As we commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Ali ibn Hussain Zainul Abideen (AS) on the 25th of Muharram, his life reminds us that speaking truth to power is itself an act of worship.
The legacy of Imam Sajjad (AS) carries a message for all those suffering oppression and injustice, which is that always stand firm, remain steadfast, never compromise with Zulm and never allow grief to turn into despair.

The notion that the Iran-Iraq bond is weakening is little more than wishful thinking. Beyond the religious and sectarian bedrock and deep trade and economic connections, the funeral processions of Ayatollah Khamenei in Najaf and Karbala, which were attended by millions braving the scorching heat, stand as compelling evidence of far deeper ties.
Only a person understanding internal Shia dynamics can appreciate the fact Iraqi Shias follow Ayatollah Sistani and other Iraq-based Maraji as their Marjai Taqleed, not Ayatollah Khamenei. Yet the scale of public participation in processions in Iraq has underscored the resilient, people to people connections between the two countries that transcend government to government relations.
Any tactical adjustments by the new Iraqi prime minister are, at best, balancing acts shaped by Iraq’s complex realities and definitely not a substantive policy shift.
