Walking out of the store today, my daughter did something that made me stop in my tracks and really think.
We noticed a man sitting outside, crying. My little girl tugged on my sleeve and said, “Mom, did you see that man crying? What’s wrong with him?”
I told her, “Yes, baby… I’m not sure. Maybe he’s just sad.”
She looked at him again and said, “Maybe he’s hot… maybe he’s thirsty.”
Before I could say a word, she walked right over to him.
“Hi sir,” she said softly, “be happy… it’s a nice day, it’s not raining. Are you hot? Why don’t you go home? The ground is dirty.”
He looked up and replied, “I have no home… but I’ll be okay.”
Her face fell. “So that means you’re homeless… you don’t have food because you don’t have a refrigerator.”
Without hesitation, she opened her little purse, handed him a few dollars and her drink, and said, “Please go eat. It would make me happy. I like McDonald’s… you should go there.” 🍔💛
I watched his whole expression soften. She absolutely made his day.
Then, as if her kindness sparked something in the air, two more people walked up and offered him money too.
We talked with him a bit, and he shared that his trailer burned down… he lost everything, including his wife. My heart broke for him. 💔
But today, my 6-year-old led by example. Kids see no color, no labels just people. And that’s exactly how the world should be.
It’s not just a saying that children are our future… it’s a FACT.
And today, my daughter gave me a little more hope for this world. 🌍✨
In an ironic twist in sports economics…
A recent study revealed that backing the San Antonio Spurs were the most profitable bet in the NBA last season, netting a hypothetical $2,352.84 profit on flat $100 wagers (via Sports Illustrated / Yahoo Sports).
Yet, Spurs superstar Victor Wembanyama just drew a hard line in the sand, announcing he will “never” partner with gambling companies and feels it’s “very sad” to see athletes promote them.
While peers like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and Giannis Antetokounmpo take equity or ambassador roles allowed under the league's CBA, Wemby says inspiring responsibly matters far more than another paycheck.
Austin Carr grew up in California and went to Benicia High School. Nobody recruited him to play major college football.
He walked on at Northwestern. No scholarship, no promises.
In three years there he caught 23 passes.
Twenty three. Total. That is not a season, that is a career for most guys who walk on, and it is usually where the story stops.
Somewhere in there he signed up for the Be The Match registry. It costs nothing to join. You swab your cheek and you go on with your life and almost nobody ever gets called.
Asked later why he bothered, his whole answer was this.
"Why not?"
Then they called him.
A 59 year old man in Kansas City named Roy Coe, a locomotive engineer, had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and needed a donor. Out of everybody in that registry, Austin Carr was the match.
Here is how he described finding out.
"It was like winning the lottery and losing your kid at the same time. You're not sure what it's going to be like."
He did it anyway. A college wide receiver with no scholarship and no draft stock, in the middle of trying to make something of himself, let doctors take part of him and give it to a stranger he had never met.
Then came his senior season.
Austin Carr caught 90 passes for 1,247 yards and 12 touchdowns.
Ninety. After catching 23 in his first three years combined.
He led the entire Big Ten in receptions. He led the entire Big Ten in receiving yards. He led the entire Big Ten in receiving touchdowns. All three.
They named him the Big Ten receiver of the year. He was a team captain, a second team All American, and a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, which goes to the best player in the country who started out as a walk on.
For his entire Northwestern career he caught 113 passes. Ninety of them came in that one year.
Nobody drafted him. The New England Patriots signed him anyway in 2017 and then cut him before the season. The New Orleans Saints claimed him off waivers and he spent four years there. He finished with 13 catches in the NFL and retired in 2021.
And in February 2018, on Super Bowl weekend, Be The Match sat him down for an interview.
Partway through it they pulled a curtain back.
Roy Coe was standing there.
The two of them had never laid eyes on each other. Carr said he felt grateful. He jokes now that Coe has hit him up on Facebook plenty of times since.
A kid with 23 career catches gave a piece of himself to a man he had never met, and then went out and had one of the best seasons any receiver in that conference has ever had.

🚨🚨🚨 𝗠𝗔𝗝𝗢𝗥 𝗕𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚: Cristiano Ronaldo has LEFT the Portugal camp following Jorge Jesus’ press conference!
‘After everything I gave this shirt, I will not stay where respect is optional.
This is the end of my journey with the Portuguese national team.
To the Portuguese people,
I have worn this jersey since I was a boy. I carried it through nights of glory and nights of pain. I scored for it, I fought for it, I cried for it. I never asked to be treated like a king. I asked only to be treated like a man who has given his life to Portugal.
That respect did not come.
Before the match against Norway, I was told I would not start, but that I would enter the game. I accepted it. I warmed up. I stayed ready. Then the minutes passed, the substitutions came, and my name was never called. After the final whistle, I walked down the tunnel alone. Not because I do not love my teammates. Because I understood, in that moment, what my place had become.
A promise broken is not a tactical decision. It is a message. And I heard it clearly.
I have always said the same thing: the day they no longer count on me, I will be the first to leave. I will not create an atmosphere. I will not sit on the bench as decoration. I will not pretend that silence is professionalism when it is only humiliation dressed as strategy.
To Jorge Jesus: you are the coach. The team is yours. I do not question your right to choose. I question the way a captain of this country was handled after two decades of service. Authority without respect is not leadership. It is just power.
To my teammates: keep going. Win. Be better than we were. This generation has talent I never had at their age. Use it. Do not waste it on politics.
To the fans: you were never the problem. You sang my name when I was 18 and you sang it when I was 41. I will always be one of you. I will always be the first supporter of this national team. That does not change because a coach decided I no longer belonged on the pitch.
I leave with a clear conscience. I leave with 146 goals, with records, with scars, and with love. I do not leave because I cannot play. I leave because I refuse to stay where I am no longer wanted in the only way that matters: on the field, with dignity.’
Thank you, Portugal.
This chapter is closed.
Cristiano Ronaldo.
@CarStan1114 I am sick of all the tech that makes life harder. You can’t get a human to answer a telephone call without going through hoops that take forever! This medical system you discussed is unbelievable!!!
At 35,000 feet, there is nowhere to run. No backup. No second chances. Just seconds between survival and catastrophe.
When terror tried to bring down an aircraft carrying 180 innocent souls, ordinary men refused to let evil win:
• Captain Smit Machchhar took the brunt of the violence, fighting off the attacker with raw willpower to break open the cockpit door.
• Asaf Redjuan charged straight into danger without hesitation to neutralize the threat.
• Tzvika Mans, a father protecting everyone on board, pinned the attacker down and bound him tight with a cable.
• Yaniv Hayon seized control of the cockpit amid sheer chaos, keeping the aircraft stable in the sky.
• Dr. Shota Musaev went straight to work under pure adrenaline, staunching the captain’s massive blood loss and keeping him alive.
No capes. No Hollywood script. Just five men, bound by duty and courage, who stood as a living wall between 180 passengers and total disaster.
They all went home safe.

A mother and her two young children, including her 10-month-old baby, were trapped on the roof of their burning home as thick black smoke poured out behind them.
There was no safe way down, and another child had already been forced to escape through a back window.
Nearby, 16-year-old Tyler Sowden heard screaming, ran outside and saw the family stranded above the fire.
He sprinted back to his house, grabbed his stepfather’s 40-foot ladder, and somehow carried the roughly 100-pound ladder past about 10 houses to reach them.
Then Tyler raised it against the second-story porch and started climbing.
With smoke blowing into his face, Tyler took the 10-month-old in one arm while gripping the ladder with the other and carefully carried the baby back down to the ground.
He then climbed back up for the 7-year-old, got him down safely, then went back again and helped their mother descend.
Less than a minute after they reached safety, the house burst into heavier flames.
Tyler was 16 years old. He carried a massive ladder down the street, climbed toward a burning house, took a baby into one arm and kept going back until that family was off the roof.
That’s the kind of teenager people should be talking about.
🚨HERO: INDIAN PILOT EMERGES AS HERO IN FLYDUBAI TERROR ATTACK!
This is Captain Smit Machchhar — an Indian national, former SpiceJet commander, and now a true hero.
Captain Machchhar was the captain of FlyDubai Flight FZ1073, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv with around 174 passengers on board.
More than two hours into the flight, his Omani co-pilot allegedly snapped — pulling a knife and stabbing Captain Machchhar inside the cockpit in what Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu is now calling an attempted jihadist terror attack to crash the plane and kill all 174 on board.
Blood in the cockpit. Emergency codes 7700 and then 7500 — hijack — screaming across the radar. The aircraft plunged from 34,000 feet to 16,000 feet in seconds, dropping 14,300 feet in just 37 seconds.
Israel scrambled fighter jets fearing a 9/11-style attack on Tel Aviv.
But Captain Machchhar didn't give up. Despite being stabbed and injured, he fought back, regained control of the aircraft, and with help from passengers who stormed to subdue the co-pilot, he heroically made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.
Both pilots were hospitalized. All 174 passengers — including 27 children — survived.
Smit Machchhar joined FlyDubai in 2022 after a decade at SpiceJet, with over 9,750 hours on the Boeing 737.
He was supposed to be just flying a plane. He ended up saving 174 lives from a terrorist in his own cockpit.
A real hero.
"Tranquilo, Astro, tranquilo, no te voy a dejar".
Y no soltar.
🚨 A PLANE JUST WENT DOWN IN A WISCONSIN CORNFIELD…
AND THE FIRST PEOPLE TO ARRIVE DIDN’T COME IN TRUCKS.
THEY FELL FROM THE SKY. 🪂💥
A pilot flying a load of skydivers spotted the wreck a mile away.
He didn’t ask permission. He didn’t wait for a meeting. He didn’t hesitate.
He got on the radio and said: “I can drop jumpers RIGHT ON TOP OF THEM.”
Three skydivers — two of them former EMTs — parachuted into that field, fought through the corn, and started treating a serious head injury before ground crews even got there.
ALL FOUR PEOPLE ON THAT PLANE SURVIVED. 🇺🇸🙏
This is the America they don’t show you enough.
Regular people who see trouble and run straight at it.
God bless that pilot and every jumper who said “we’re going.” 🔥
Dr. John Cheng, 52, sports doctor and father, brought his recently widowed mother to church luncheon.
Gunman opens fire on elderly worshipers.
Cheng doesn’t hide.
He charges.
Unarmed.
Straight into the gunfire.
Takes three rounds.
Gives the others the seconds they need to take the shooter down with a chair and an extension cord.
He dies so they live.
That’s not “thoughts and prayers.”
That’s a man who decided evil doesn’t get the last word in a house of God.
Remember Dr. John Cheng. 🇺🇸🙏
A couple and their newborn baby were sideswiped in their SUV, thrown off the road and flipped into a ditch.
Then water started pouring in while they were trapped upside down. The father curled around his baby girl, trying to protect her.
Aaron Allen and his sister Jolisa were driving directly behind them. They pulled over instantly and sprinted into the water.
Aaron tried breaking the windows, but nothing worked. With the water rising, the siblings realized they had to move the SUV itself.
Together, they somehow pushed the overturned vehicle back onto its side.
Aaron wrapped his T-shirt around his fist and smashed through the windshield until it finally broke. The glass tore into his arm, but he kept going.
The newborn was handed out first, then Aaron and Jolisa helped both parents escape.
All three survived with only minor injuries.
Aaron later said he simply did what he hoped someone else would do for his own family.
Aaron and Jolisa saved that family’s life. So let’s give them the recognition they deserve.
He Told His Wife to Run… Then Went Back to Help Strangers. ❤️
"This man attended the concert in Vegas. He is Dr. James Sebesta. He is a Surgeon, more importantly he is a good human being. When shots fired he looked at his wife and told her to get out with their friends to safety and he would meet them back at the hotel. Treatment was literally to get them out of there and stop any bleeding he could. He said he would just go person to person. He, in the midst of chaos and fearful, went out and started finding the wounded to medically help them.
He went through the crowd of 58 killed people and 527 wounded and did everything in his power to help. He carried victims to safety. He carried bodies of those victims that didn't make it off the field. He could have left with his wife. He could have escaped to safety. He made a choice to do what he knows best, be a good person. He is a Hero." ❤️
RESPECT!
This is a photo of Texas Longhorn superfan Scott Wilson in his longhorn-themed Cadillac. Scott was undoubtedly on his way to a game when this was taken. Before he died last year at the age of 74, Scott had seen 595 longhorn games in a row, without missing a single one. Considering all the places the Longhorns have played over the years, that's pretty dang impressive. Today would have been Scott's 75th birthday. How awesome is that car?
