I analyzed my trades from last month till now, (17 trades in total )to understand the real impact of moving stops to break-even.

Process:
• Built the dataset in Excel
• Used Python for analysis & visualization
• Fixed risk per trade: $100

I compared two scenarios.

WITH break-even:
• Win rate: 36%
• Loss rate: 19%
• Break-even trades: 45%
• 8.5R

WITHOUT break-even:
• Win rate: 55%
• Loss rate: 45%
• 19.5R

Key insights:

• Break-even dramatically increased neutral outcomes
• It reduced my ability to measure true expectancy in R’s
• It felt psychologically safer,but it significantly reduced overall profitability
• Longest streak of losses was 3 without break-evens and 2 with break-evens, so no major difference
• You can’t accurately measure your win rate if you use Break-evens

The equity curve and total profit comparison made the difference very clear.

Going forward, I’ll be trading without moving stops to break-even, only SL or TP, while I continue to collect data to see how the system performs over time.
