@Lightning_Gavin@unt1tledcont@workernetZX So the reasons don't apply to other games but also there are combos in other games and it's the same. You are all over the place and obviously cant drop your bias to listen to what others are saying. Not worth talking to people with this mindset.
@Lightning_Gavin@unt1tledcont@workernetZX This has devolved into you just saying "I'm right because reasons" The entire concept of something being hard is subjective. You do not get to be the arbiter of what someone thinks is hard. Not sure how i would prove that doing combos is hard or anything is hard for that matter.
@Lightning_Gavin@unt1tledcont@workernetZX this is legit the quote from above “The skills from other games to FG do transfer but motion inputs and strict timings in general just do not apply to other games” … you just aren’t reading what i’m saying. I literally said the opposite of what you are claiming.
@GarouGyaru@unt1tledcont@workernetZX The point is people are different. It might not take you hours but take my mother for example. It would take her more than hours to execute a dp. If i tell her “that flying washing machine cant be hit by earthquake” she will simply not hit that button.
@Lightning_Gavin@unt1tledcont@workernetZX Also great perfect. Would be nice to see you play against someone that blocks and doesnt get counter hit every single swing. I’m sure the result would be the same but the example doesnt prove anything to me. You are doing combos plain and simple.
@Lightning_Gavin@unt1tledcont@workernetZX i’m not trying to downplay your rank or skill or anything but slash heavy slash special move is a combo whether you think it is or not. My point originally is that Yes even slash heavy slash special is hard for people. Not for you or me but for a lot of people.
@Lightning_Gavin@unt1tledcont@workernetZX you’re missing the point. It’s not that you can’t cancel animations in other games, it’s that the timings are not anywhere as strict and also they aren’t necessary. If i want to do a combo 9/10 i need to be able to special cancel. I can play the entirety of doom and not cancel.
@JagTaggart93 Maybe your right this is just from my experience. I just feel like if we consider playing world tour "getting into fighting games" I don't think anyone is quitting because world tour is too hard... its the online.
@_PaleblueDot__@Jack_Luminous I understand what you are saying. All I am saying is that anyone can do this, the hard part comes when you try to actually play the game in its entirety. Combos, throws, oki, movement. All of it combined is where non FG players drop off. We can all (mostly) stand and press HK.
@JagTaggart93 I mean cmon. The first thing people want to do when they hop on SF is do Hadoken. No one is hopping in as a new player and going man gotta practice pressing heavy punch and walking right to left. Most people can grasp that part. The hard part is putting it all together.
@_PaleblueDot__@Jack_Luminous my counterpoint is only that it’s hard to hone one skill when you need all of them at somewhat of a competent level to even be considered playing the game. else you just get rolled by people who don’t care and mash their shit.
@JagTaggart93 I mean debatable that no training mode was when fighting games were at their "height" but sure. My point is that some people can't just hop in and know how to do the most basic things but in other games can figure it out relatively quick. QCF+P is not intuitive to most gamers.
@dsl33t@unt1tledcont@workernetZX I totally agree they should keep using them. I think the swap from modern to classic is harder than it sounds. Guile EX Flash kick on Modern vs Classic is a completely different beast. Same with lots of other moves depending on the game.
@_PaleblueDot__@Jack_Luminous I’m fine with just playing to improve neutral but your forgetting the rest. What is the super input, what do i do when i “win” neutral, after i do my combo what do i do to win neutral again, they started jumping now i have to think about anti air. There is more to think about.
@_PaleblueDot__@Jack_Luminous Then you get put into a corner and that goes out the window. There are levels to this that fighting game players take for granted. I agree most people are dogshit but so am I so if you want to play the game properly you get overwhelmed in your mental stack.
@dsl33t@unt1tledcont@workernetZX New players would use modern/pulse modes more often if there wasn’t a stigma. Also learning to play modern does not transfer to playing classic. Underestimating the mental stack of fundamentals plus combos while someone is beating you up is where fighting games get overwhelming.
@Rysair_ Any practice tool could be better. I think FG tools as well. As a new player I would love a combo trial to tell me why i dropped the combo. Was I too slow, was my input wrong, was i cancelling at the wrong time? I haven’t seen a fighting game do that and it would help so much.
@Rysair_ Your last paragraph is the sentiment of everyone that cant break into fighting games. I don’t want things handed to me or combos to be brain dead. The game is just fundamentally more challenging to get into so people say “it’s not for me”
