Going to an event like #SXSW is like being highly caffeinated for a week or so. Lots of big thoughts and possibilities!
Then comes the crash—the thoughts feel daunting and nothing feels possible. I wrote about **not overthinking it**: https://t.co/bEmI2XLIN4

On the @eventfarm blog: "In-person events are the difference between the feeling you get ordering coffee through an app, and the feeling of the barista knowing your name." #eventmarketing
AKA the difference between my weekday & weekend coffee routines.

Let's just pay for good media. The fact that we DON'T do that right now leads to 1) everyday annoyances (just visit @Forbes dot com to see what I mean) and 2) the instability of an industry that is essential to democracy.
Make sure whatever you're saying is clear. Make sure it sounds like it's coming from a human. I think the people at @Drift are showing marketers how to do it. And I think this book gets at the same thing: https://t.co/mIuglrZJjz
Here's what non-marketers don't get: language that's been smoothed over 27 times is actually *bad*
No one wants to read a thing that's passed through 4 corporate (or wannabe corporate) filter holes. Perfect grammar, typos—no one cares.
Trying to preserve the rigidness and sanctity of grammar rules that existed in your grandma's Strunk and White makes you sound like a 1950s English teacher at an all-girls Catholic school.
No one wants to read anything coming from anyone who sounds that way.
Marketing a thing that doesn't exist elsewhere is exciting but difficult. There is no mental model!
But when you see it, you get it. @eventfarm is hosting a webinar to *show you* our attendee texting suite. Learn more and sign up here: 👉https://t.co/YweR5yAERx

This is my favorite marketing campaign I've worked on to date, helping to showcase some equally cool tech @eventfarm. I will begrudgingly admit that email isn't dying, but we can #dobetterthanemail.
