@KavithaRatwatte@PresRajapaksa@GotabayaR Sad to say, I'm wondering how this guy served in armed forces. Such a disgraced personality to the entire tri-forces. Gone nuts.
Sri Lanka's decision to grant visa-free entry to citizens of 40 countries is primarily aimed at boosting tourism, increasing foreign exchange earnings, and improving competitiveness against regional destinations such as Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia.
Sri Lanka's Main Challenge:
The biggest issue is not knowing whether someone leaves the immigration system generally tracks entry and departure.
The greater challenge is:
- Detecting illegal employment
- Monitoring long-term overstays
- Ensuring visitor addresses are accurate
- Coordinating between immigration, police, labor, and tourism authorities
Countries with successful visa-free regimes usually have strong digital immigration systems and active enforcement against overstayers.
Do #Srilanka have this?
If one tourist pays a US$50 visa fee but spends US$1,500 during a two-week holiday, that's a win.
The success of the policy will depend on whether:
Tourist arrivals increase substantially,
Average spending per visitor rises,
Overstay and security risks remain manageable.
If managed properly, the economic benefits can outweigh the risks. If enforcement is weak, concerns about illegal work, overstays, and misuse of tourist status can become significant policy issues.
@t20tracker I think @OfficialSLC not understand the reason why we need LPL.
Bringing in retired player as captain is not at all do any good for the cricket future.
We expected to create cricket future not playing another legends tournament.
Is the Rs.60 Petrol Loss Claim Credible?
My assessment: Probably not for Petrol 92 at today's price.
Using CPC's own April published formula:
Petrol 92 cost = Rs.432.59
Current selling price = Rs.434
That suggests near break-even.
Even allowing for May market movements, a loss of Rs.60 per litre on Petrol 92 would require actual costs around Rs.494/L, which is much higher than the latest published formula estimate.
Therefore, the Rs.60 petrol loss claim appears difficult to justify based on the publicly released April pricing data.
@freekachandan67 It seems he might spoil his cricket career very soon. Too much attention and hype might kill this kids future.
India should protect him as T20 player.
Sri Lanka is a predominantly Buddhist country, and we should respect its cultural and religious boundaries. Although Buddhists make up around 70% of the population, they have generally shown respect toward other religions and their values. Religious places of worship belonging to different faiths can be found across the country, which reflects the level of religious acceptance and coexistence practiced in Sri Lanka. Therefore, claiming that other religions are not respected in the country would not be accurate.
At the same time, every country has its own cultural identity and majority values. Those who prefer cultural or religious environments similar to Arab countries or places like Tamil Nadu may naturally feel more aligned with those societies. In Sri Lanka, despite being the majority community, Buddhists have still allowed and respected the presence of other religions and their places of worship throughout the country.
For example, in some countries in the Middle East, building Buddhist temples may not be permitted, and similarly, Buddhist religious presence is far less visible in places like Tamil Nadu. In contrast, Sri Lanka has continued to accommodate religious diversity. Therefore, this mutual respect and coexistence should also be acknowledged and respected by everyone living in the country.
You can choose where you need to migrate to have your own.
Sri Lankaβs economy may be recoveringβ¦ but thereβs a growing concern underneath the surface.
Imports are rising faster than exports.
That means the country is spending more USD than it earns.
Whatβs increasing?
- Vehicle imports
- Fuel imports
- Machinery & consumer goods
- Overseas spending and travel demand
But exports and foreign income are not growing at the same speed.
This creates pressure on:
- USD availability
- Foreign reserves
- Exchange rates
- Inflation and living costs
A recovering economy is good.
But recovery without balanced export growth can become risky.
Sri Lanka must focus on:
-Export expansion
-Tourism income
-Foreign investments
-Local production & innovation
-Reducing unnecessary import dependency
Otherwise, the pressure on the Rupee may continue to grow in the coming months.
What are your thoughts on Sri Lankaβs current economic direction?
#SriLanka #Economy #USD #LKR #Exports #Imports #Forex #CBSL #EconomicGrowth #SriLankanEconomy #Inflation #Business #Investment #TradeDeficit #Finance #SouthAsia
What do you think is really happening in #SriLanka right now?
Rising pressure on the dollar.
Increasing taxes on imports.
Growing concerns around reserves and the cost of living.
Are these temporary economic adjustments or early signs of a bigger challenge ahead?
Whatβs your view?
@NewsBFM It is better to do a complete maintenance. Maybe all the sensors needs to be replaced. The tracks needs to be thoroughly checked along with compartment sensors. This will be a heavy task, but high time to start with.
There can be two sides to this situation.
Iβm not making any legal claims here, nor am I saying who is right or wrong.
One possibility is that the monk may have been framed.
The other possibility is that he may have actually committed the act.
On one side, he is a highly respected monk holding one of the highest positions connected to one of the most sacred Buddhist sites in the world. Knowing that any action would eventually come to light, it naturally raises questions about whether the allegations could really be true.
On the other side, with the level of influence and protection such a position may carry, some may believe he could have acted thinking he would be protected.
So what is the truth?
None of us can judge before the facts are clear. Let the truth come out through proper process.
Believe in karma.
Politics, religion and whatnot.
Sri Lankaβs property prices have become increasingly unrealistic, with developers often setting prices without proper market regulation or oversight.
There is a serious lack of buyer protection, safety compliance, and regulatory enforcement prior to property handovers, including approvals from fire, electricity, water, and emergency authorities. The government must step in with stronger regulations to ensure transparency, accountability, and owner safety.
