This is one of the best booths I've seen at New York Comic Con.
Actually, calling it a booth almost doesn't do it justice.
Whatnot has created an entire environment inside the convention center.
They call it the Whatnot Liveplex.
The first thing that stands out is the enormous overhead Whatnot signage.
You know exactly whose space you're looking at before you ever get near it.
But what makes this setup special is everything underneath that sign.
They've built what looks like a miniature shopping district, complete with storefronts, colorful displays, dedicated spaces for live activities and plenty of room for attendees to explore.
It's bright. It's inviting. It's different.
And it gives people a reason to walk inside rather than simply walk past.
That's a big distinction.
Whatnot isn't just trying to tell people about its platform. It's creating a physical environment that reflects the shopping, entertainment and community experience the platform is built around.
This is where great event design becomes more than great booth design.
The experience itself helps communicate the business.
And from a marketing perspective, that's incredibly valuable.
Instead of relying on a salesperson to explain everything, the environment does part of the work.
It attracts attention, encourages exploration and creates opportunities for people to engage with the brand.
That's exactly what I want to see from a major event investment.
I've spent more than 30 years working in events, and one of the biggest mistakes I see is companies spending enormous amounts of money building something impressive without thinking enough about what attendees will actually do once they get there.
Whatnot clearly put thought into both.
The branding gets your attention.
The environment gives you a reason to enter.
And the different experiences give you reasons to stay.
That's how you turn booth space into an experience.
Whatnot didn't just build a booth at NYCC.
They built a destination.
And they did an outstanding job.
Youngblood will return in 2027. We sold 600,000 copies of Youngblood, introduced toys, an artist edition, new trades. We have crazy, great plans and will definitely look to continue to raise the bar, we are just getting started!
