racun dari bakteri itu bikin korban muntah-muntah dan diare hebat nonstop. badannya jadi kehabisan cairan dan elektrolit secara drastis (dehidrasi ekstrem).

karena cairan tubuh habis, tekanan darah mendadak drop parah (syok). akibatnya, darah yang bertugas bawa oksigen ke otak jadi tersendat banget.

otak manusia—khususnya bagian hipokampus yang menyimpan ingatan—tuh sensitif bgt sm yg namanya kekurangan oksigen.

begitu oksigennya putus bntar aja (misalnya pas pingsan lama atau kejang), sel-sel penyimpan memori itu bisa rusak atau mati.

jadi, hilang ingatannya itu bukan karena racunnya langsung "makan" memori di otak, tapi karena dampak keracunannya bikin tubuh syok hebat dan otak kekurangan oksigen.
