Balogun Market trader and businessman, Onuigbo Ndubisi Chinedu, has been arrested by NDLEA over an alleged attempt to smuggle 3.30kg of cocaine to the UK.

He was picked up on July 23 at MMIA after drugs were found hidden in food cartons. Investigations earlier led to the arrest of three cargo agents and another suspect linked to the shipment.

NDLEA says Chinedu was identified as the mastermind and was arrested while allegedly preparing another shipment.

The President noted that their voluntary services, which brought specialist medical care, surgeries, consultations, health education and life-saving interventions to thousands of Nigerians, reflect the compassion, patriotism and excellence for which Nigerians are renowned globally.

He urged the visiting doctors to serve as ambassadors of the country's renewed optimism by encouraging more Nigerian medical professionals abroad to reconnect with home through partnerships, investments, knowledge exchange and permanent return where possible.

Earlier, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, expressed the commitment of the visiting healthcare professionals to deploy their expertise and contribute their quota to the renewed hope national healthcare deliver masterplan as demonstrated in different parts of the country during their recent medical outreaches.

 “Your Excellency, the visitors said having been trained in Nigeria and because they are Nigerians and succeeded abroad but they want to come back home and do something and that is why we have the diaspora commission encouraging them and working with them to ensure that they play a part in your Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Mr. President, it is your leadership qualities that made them agree to come collectively and make this impact in the health sector. Mr President, some of our people are leaving, but they're also coming back with knowledge, and expertise to make Nigeria a better place. So, what is your role in making Nigeria a better place? What is your role in the Renewed Hope Agenda? We are glad you are here, so welcome home,” Abike to the visitors.

Also speaking, the Minister of State for Health Dr. Salako, said the commitment of the diaspora medical professionals has further validated the power and the reach of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the health sector.

“What we are seeing today further demonstrates that you are not only renewing the hope of Nigerians in Nigeria but, even Nigerians outside Nigeria are filling the agenda. And so, when your excellency declared in that renewed hope agenda document that the health of every Nigerian will be treated as a matter of urgent rights, our brothers and sisters abroad keyed into it.

“Since I became the minister of state for health, I have had interface with virtually everybody physically online. And I can tell you, excellency, these are very motivated, very ready, very prepared Nigerians who want to give back to Nigeria,” he said.

The Minister added that the Ministry of Health will henceforth make the collaboration with the Diaspora health professionals a yearly event in their calendar.

The airline, Royal Air Maroc, has for the longest time, been the biggest culprit when it comes to baggage infractions, poor passenger handling, and extremely poor resolution processes when dealing with Nigerian passengers.

Having been sanctioned - for the first time ever - for consumer protection-related infractions in 2025, one would have expected very major improvements in the way the attend to complaints from Nigerian passengers.

Sadly, despite the best possible support from the Authority (we support all airlines to continue to be in business), the manner of response to these issues have hardly seen much by way of improvement; baggage continue to be shortlanded without timely information to affected passengers, first need is not being paid on a consistent level, and complaints are treated mostly after the NCAA gets involved and much pressure is given.

To make matters worse, invitations from the CAA are treated with a degree of insolence that is unacceptable. Everywhere in the world, when the CAA summons an airline, it is mandatory to attend.

Royal Air Maroc's country manager, Ahmed Boussouf, will sit in Lagos and refuse to attend meetings in Abuja. Instead, the airline will hastily send an email on the eve of the meeting that the cases are being processed, and thereafter, send one Theophilus (their Abuja rep), without authority to resolve cases or make commitments.

Today, one of those events occurred. In registering our displeasure over this incessant disregard for Nigerian passengers and the Authority, this country manager, Boussouf, said to me, "Whatever you want to do, do."

While our job may be thankless and exhausting, the NCAA, under the dispensation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Honourable Minister Festus Keyamo, SAN; and the DGCA, Capt. Chris Najomo, will never be diminished to such a level of brazen disregard and non-compliance.

The passengers whose cases have been delayed, quite unfairly and unnecessarily, are paying, loyal customers. International airlines have bilateral service agreements (BASA) to honour, as well as the obligation of simple service to passengers.

Strict enforcement will happen against this airline and my department will push for a stoppage of Royal Air Maroc operations in Nigeria until they make a commitment to treat Nigerian passengers better.

I am not the kind of public servant who is afraid to lose his job for the right reasons. I will never accept this behaviour from operators. It is not arrogance; it is simply adherence to rules that have, for ages, been treated like they don't exist.

Whatever gains we make in this industry, we will continue to fail if the rights and responsibilities of all stakeholders are treated as an afterthought. We must be intentional and systematic, adhering to world class standards.

Most airlines are fortunate, and they know it, that Nigerian passengers do not have a culture of boycotting airlines, no matter the shortcomings. Otherwise, some of these cases would not even require regulatory intervention if any operator fails to take their customers seriously. There is nowhere RAM flies to, that people do not have alternatives in Air Algerie, Egypt Air, and Ethiopian.

My department will be taking a very firm stand over this matter, and Royal Air Maroc will stop taking for granted, the relationship Morocco has enjoyed with Nigeria and Nigerians.

We will ensure stiffer penalties against Royal Air Maroc this time. The job we were given to do will be done without fear.

Japa will continue, Exodus will continue. Parents will get old.
Children will leave..who will take care of them??
Your facility.

- Invest in Stem cell transplant center
Another one that's yet to peak in Nigeria
From sickle cell, blood cancers and more.
Solutions abound.

- Invest in a Liver transplant Center.
Another Gold mine.
Most times in Nigeria, liver cancer and liver diseases, the end stage is death.

The gathering was a solemn reminder of the enduring values of faith, family, compassion, and service to humanity. As we prayed for the peaceful repose of Mama's soul, we also celebrated a life defined by dignity, kindness, and positive impact on those around her.

NDLEA declares drug kingpin, 3 associates wanted, blocks N9.8billion in accounts
…Secures forfeiture of multi-billion-naira fuel station, buildings, SUVs, as Marwa vows to disrupt the financial architecture that sustains drug cartels

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared a drug kingpin, Nnamuka Kelvin Uchenna (a.k.a Odogwu) and three of his associates: Emmanuella Chinonso Iroka; Nnamuka Ifeanyi Kingsley and Ekechi Franklin Chijioke (a.k.a Ekene Okwunaga) wanted over their involvement in the establishment of a clandestine laboratory, production of methamphetamine and drug money laundering. The suspects were declared wanted based on the order of Justice Iniekenimi Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court, Owerri, Imo state, following an application by NDLEA in suit number FHC/OW/CS/22/2026 filed before the court on 3rd July 2026.

This followed the discovery of a methamphetamine producing clandestine laboratory where 18.4 kilograms of the illicit substance and other items were recovered by NDLEA operatives at Isiozi in Umuaka, Njaba local government area of Imo state on 25th February 2026. Investigations later linked the wanted suspects to the meth lab and have since then gone into hiding.

Through forensic investigation of the meth syndicate by NDLEA operatives, bank accounts linked to the wanted suspects with a combined balance of Nine Billion, Eight Hundred and Forty Million, Eight Hundred and Seventy Three Thousand, Five Hundred and Sixty Six Naira, Sixty Six Kobo (N9,840,873,566.66) only was frozen while the Agency has secured interim forfeiture orders covering multibillion naira assets owned by members of the syndicate including: a filling station, multi-storey residential buildings and four Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) marked RLU 148 AJ; KJA 563 FZ; BWR 249 DY and FST 208 HU.
Reacting to the development, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers and operatives involved in the operation, describing it as a clear demonstration of the Agency's resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks and disrupt the financial architecture that sustains them.
"This latest operation reaffirms our unwavering commitment to tracking down drug kingpins and their collaborators, no matter how sophisticated their network or how long they attempt to evade justice. The discovery of this clandestine methamphetamine laboratory in Njaba, and the subsequent freezing of nearly ten billion naira in illicit funds, alongside the forfeiture of a filling station, multi-storey buildings and four exotic SUVs, sends an unambiguous message that the illegal drug business is no longer a safe haven for criminals seeking to launder their ill-gotten wealth through legitimate enterprises.
"I want to assure Nigerians that the Agency will not relent in going after the fleeing suspects and anyone else linked to this syndicate. We will continue to deploy financial and forensic intelligence to trace, freeze and forfeit assets acquired through drug trafficking, just as we will not hesitate to invoke the full weight of the law against fugitives who think they can hide from justice.
"I appeal to members of the public with useful information on the whereabouts of the wanted suspects to volunteer such information to the nearest NDLEA office or through our confidential lines, as we remain committed to ridding our communities of the scourge of drug trafficking and its attendant social and economic harm", Marwa stated.
