I was at one of these encampments yesterday - I met a mother with a 20 year old daughter who said they had lived in the tent for 6 months after being evicted. In another was a woman who had bruises all over her face. It is heartbreaking and all of them -when asked what they wanted - was a place to be safe and warm, that they could call home.

On December 6th, 2023, the @OntarioAuditor released a report on emergency departments.

It delivered a scathing analysis of this government’s mismanagement and presented concrete, actionable solutions just in time for the winter respiratory season.

What did @fordnation and @SylviaJonesMPP do?

Nothing.

This government was told that Ontario’s emergency departments were at a breaking point, and it simply could not—or worse, would not—bring itself to act.

The Premier and Minister of Health must come out of hiding and outline their plan to immediately reduce emergency room closures and wait times, and they can start with the recommendations I laid out for them today:

1) Accept and implement the 14 @OntarioAuditor recommendations.

2) Deliver a healthcare worker retention strategy and drop Bill 124.

3) Fully fund primary and long-term care.

4) Deliver public health messaging that can help the people of Ontario stay safe this winter.
