PRESS STATEMENT BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF SEADOGS ON THE 5TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE #EndSARS PROTESTS
Five years on, the lessons of #EndSARS appear unlearned. The continuing heavy-handed police response to peaceful civic demonstrations, including the ongoing protests in Abuja and other parts of the country demanding the release of the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, suggests that Nigeria is yet to internalize the fundamental principles of democracy.
The National Association of Seadogs reiterates that the right to peaceful protest and free expression is constitutionally guaranteed and must be respected at all times. While law enforcement agencies have a duty to maintain public order, this responsibility must be exercised with professionalism, restraint, and respect for human rights.

The Pyrates Confraternity has continually upheld ideals that inspire its members, individually and collectively, to rise to the challenge of actively and altruistically working for the needed change in society.
In other words, "Pyrates must be doing, not yapping. Wherever the community in which we exist needs a hand, in whatever cause, to enthrone these principles, the PYRATE must be FIRST".

However, we also recognise and commend the prompt and decisive action taken by the Inspector-General of Police, Dr Kayode Egbetokun, and the Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbokina.
Upon receiving a formal complaint from the affected members, who, despite provocation, upheld our core values of discipline and due process, the authorities moved swiftly.
Thanks to their leadership, the ₦2 million was fully recovered and returned.
More importantly, the six erring officers have been identified, subjected to an orderly room trial, and recommended for dismissal from the Nigeria Police Force.
