There has been a massive amount of Lp(a) testing happening since the March 2026 guidelines upgraded the recommendation from optional to Class 1 (you' were now a bad doctor if you didn't check it).
No idea why they'd do that in the absence of strong evidence that an Lp(a) testing strategy actually improves outcomes. And this wasn't a one-off. The 2026 guidelines were full of strong recommendations built on weak data. Add in the newly liberalized policies around guideline writers and financial conflicts of interest, and you have a good story about a set of guidelines shaped by heavy pharmaceutical industry bias.
The science journalists were, as usual, too busy amplifying the same-always-wrong usual suspects in their rolodex to notice.
@VPrasadMDMPH Only the naive and gullible believe their profits are capped. They own the pbms and pharmacies they buy drugs from and hide substantial profits that way. In what world should they be able to make 9 billion in quarterly profits if all they did was make 20% of insurance premiums
The @ABIMFoundation has removed board certication from all physicians who haven't paid for "MOC" including those within their initial certification window (early career docs).
Care to explain this to your fellow EPs @AndreaRussoEP ?
@HRSonline@ACCinTouch it is time to move as fast as possible on your new CV board.

The fire physician shortage is here. Med Schools aren’t responding as 63% of medical students now have no intention of practicing.
Washington must stop access for Seniors by cutting Medicare reimbursements and crushing access to care. https://t.co/aD6GPhQqOy
@chadinabhan@doctorwes "HRS also continues to assess and consider alternative certification processes on behalf of our membership," statement really shows the weakness of the organization. What more needs to be assessed? Who actually supports moc?

@EJSMD Great video! I have found that finding the axillary vein in most "normal weight" patients to be much easier from the skin surface and then create the pocket around the wire access

The moratorium on physician-owned hospitals was implemented as part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) in 2010, with the aim of preventing conflicts of interest and promoting fair competition in the healthcare industry.
The moratorium effectively banned the creation of new physician-owned hospitals and limited the expansion of existing facilities.
There is no evidence on the effectiveness of the moratorium in reducing healthcare expenses.

Great reporting adds to overwhelming evidence that @Cigna & other insurers inappropriately delay/deny care. Claims denied in batches without even being read. "Over a period of 2 mos last yr, @Cigna docs denied >300,000 requests...spending an avg of 1.2 seconds on each." https://t.co/TTo1PPojt4
