"To our surprise and encouragement, Kathy and I have discovered that the less we attempt to make this world into a heaven, the more we are able to enjoy it."

Too evangelical, not evangelical enough. Too socially consciousness, not socially conscious enough.
Our Asbury criticisms reflect not just our culture wars, writes @MikeCosper, but a more “fundamental theological anxiety.”

Something I’d encourage churches, conferences, camps to replicate this year based off #asburyrevival
Less lights
Less show
Less entertainment
Less fancy
More simple
More authentic
More prayer & pursuing God
More humility
More repentance
More of God’s Word
Come back to the heart of worship.
Keep the focus on a simple pursuit of Jesus with all of your hearts.

@abrahamcho A great quote coming from the preacher/chef extraordinaire himself. This reminds me of a convo I had after a sermon where I shared how Kerhoulas means 'baker' in Greek. And he said that's exactly what I'm called to do: to bake bread for the saints.
Lord, help me today to be responsive rather than reactive, contemplative rather than contentious, creative rather critical, hopeful rather than despondent, and to take heart from the Good News rather than lose heart over the world news. Amen.
