Hate never goes away. It only hides.
And one week ago, we saw hate manifest in the worst massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust.
We must reject it in every form.
The terrorist attack on Israel has brought to the surface painful memories and the scars left by a millennia of antisemitism and genocide of the Jewish people.
So, in this moment, we must be crystal clear: We stand with Israel and the Jewish community.
There is no justification for terrorism.
Hamas does not stand for the Palestinian people’s equal right to dignity and self-determination.
They use Palestinian civilians as human shields, and offer nothing but terror and bloodshed with no regard for who pays the price.
All Americans should be horrified and outraged by the brazen terrorist attacks on Israel and the slaughter of innocent civilians. We grieve for those who died, pray for the safe return of those who’ve been held hostage, and stand squarely alongside our ally, Israel, as it dismantles Hamas. As we support Israel’s right to defend itself against terror, we must keep striving for a just and lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
