I've been thinking... what if Lila never intended to steal her miraculous? what if she was just testing the waters, trying to force Marinette into using one of her contingency protocols? (not that Lila knows about them... or does she?)
She KNOWS Marinette is Ladybug, she's just looking for a way to prove it because she doesn't have SOLID evidence...

OH BUT you know who she does have solid evidence on? Rena Rouge (along with basically every miraculer except Chat Noir). So she's already connected the dots: if Alya is Rena Rouge and Marinette's best friend, then creating a fake Ladybug while Marinette is "kidnapped" is probably exactly what she expected them to do

that would also explain why "Kung Food" kept going after "Ladybug" so relentlessly. The goal wasn't necessarily to defeat her, it was to land a hit and expose her as an illusion in front of everyone (or in front of chat noir idk)

And she ALMOST pulled it off except Lila doesn't know Chat Noir is Adrien, so the second he saw Marinette in danger, he completely lost it trying to save her, which ended up saving Marinette and Alya's plan lol
