This type of corporation comes with certain restrictions, such as being unavailable to non-U.S. residents.
Don’t confuse it with the classic standard C corporation, which is popular among startups.
It’s the tax return for an S corporation, specifically for those of you who have an S-corp. This is the type of corporation where you’re required to pay yourself a reasonable salary, and the corporation itself doesn’t pay taxes at the company level. Instead, it issues Form K-1 to its owners to report their share of the income.
And finally, Tax Day - Tuesday, April 15, 2025: file C corporation tax returns (Form 1120), personal tax returns (Forms 1040, 1040NR), or request an extension if you’re unable to prepare the returns on time.
Important (!) Taxes must be paid by this date. The extension applies only to filing, not to payment.
The IRS will begin accepting electronic filings for business tax returns (Forms 1120, 1065 series) on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, and for personal tax returns (Forms 1040 series) on Monday, January 27, 2025.
What a founder says vs what I hear:
“We have amazing entrepreneurs on our board who help us grow” - “We had one Zoom call and put their photos on our website.”
I recently stumbled upon a post on r/wallstreetbets that’s both genius and absurd.
Someone is offering to get married for tax optimization. 🤯
For sure, it was a joke.
But the more I read, the more I realized: this is actually brilliant.
Let me explain why.👇
Moral of the story:
When life gives you $1.2M in losses, find an ally with $1M in gains and turn it into a win-win situation.
Instead of saying “I lost”, he says: “Let’s win together.”
