Hypocrites everywhere! It is okay to continue to scrutinise the records of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialABAT as Governor of Lagos State 27 years ago, but it is abomination to scrutinise Peter Obi’s record as Governor 19 years ago! Yet, they are both running for the same office.
How can someone question why the Anambra State Government is reeling out facts at this time? A Presidential candidate makes bogus claims as to his tenure as Governor, yet you don’t want him to be fact-checked? What type of hypocrisy is this? Governor Soludo, take a bow; take your flowers.
Local Government in Nigeria- The Glorified Cashier
Let's talk about Local Governments. You know; the tier of government closest to you, the one that's supposed to fix your street, staff your primary health centre, and keep your local primary school running properly.
I recently went through the 2025 consolidated Auditor-General report for Local Government in Ogun State. Ogun State's LGs received N116 billion in 2025. N114 billion of that amount (98%) came from Abuja as federal allocation. Only N2.1 billion, less than 2%, was IGR.
Of the N96.4 billion spent, N58.5 billion (i.e. 61%) went to salaries and allowances. N26 billion went to pensions. That's 88% of everything spent, just on salaries and pensions.
Overhead took another 10%. And capital projects — roads, primary healthcare, actual development — got N1.8 billion. Less than 2%.
Sit with that for a minute. From Abeokuta to Ijebu Ode, Yewa to Sagamu, Ota to Ikenne-Odogbolu; every road, every clinic, every borehole across an entire state was competing for N1.8 billion.
When you break down that personnel cost further, 65% of it is primary school teachers' salaries and retiree pensions. Another 24% is LG staff. 11% goes to political office holders and traditional ruler stipends.
So what is the Local Government actually doing? It is certainly not developing anything. It is only a payroll processor for teachers, retirees, and a handful of political appointees. That's it.
This is why nobody trusts the LG to fix anything. This is why every complaint, every appeal for a road or a clinic, gets redirected to the State House or to Abuja because the Local Government, as structured today, simply does not have the money to do its job.
We cannot keep calling this a tier of government. It’s a cashier's window…an ATM. And until that changes, grassroots development in Nigeria will remain a pipe dream not a mandate.

Peter Obi who failed to fix Anambra State for 8 years? He's telling you and me at our age that he needs four years. That is the height of desperation..."

For a player of his quality with his record assists @FIFAWorldCup it's SIMPLY NOT good enough!
Take the World Cup qualifiers seriously, dem nor gree listen.
They’re now playing street football across Nigeria while their mates are in Mexico, Canada and USA.
The way MC lively is moving these days will make you to understand that some of these comedians are not just trying to be funny for their audience, they are just acting out their delusional reality.
Saying you will generate, transmit and distribute 10k MW of electricity in 4 years is a lot of commitment. The sort that’d cost you upwards of $30b. That you saw it in Egypt and Indonesia won’t make it cheaper. If it did, I saw it in Germany in 2016, it still isn’t cheaper.
When you are asked how? The answer cannot be “just trust me”. This is not, “I love you. I’ll be there for you” stuff. Even that comes at a cost. Love isn’t free.
In separate interviews with Seun Okinbaloye and Rufai Oseni, @PeterObi has refused to answer how.
Because he doesn’t know how. And if he ever does learn how, he still won’t admit what it would take to get those 10k MW into homes. He doesn’t have it in him to utter uncomfortable truths.
His entire political identity since The Platform platformed him is governance as goody-goody. Governance without cost. Governance without painful decisions. Politics of Lamba. Governance of castles in the sky. The governance he couldn’t practise as governor. Because it doesn’t exist.
