I was banned from teaching and declared persona non-grata by Cornell police. Prohibited from being on campus and was told that if I want to see a doctor, I must seek permission first. My crime? Being anti-genocide. Yet if you do this, you write a letter and you’re free to roam.

actually it's because rent used to be cheap in basically every US city and you could work like 3 days a week and live in a house with a basement or guest room where your band could practice and you could host shows.
