News of Nigeria being one of the top 10 contributors to global GDP hasn’t gone down well in some quarters.

It’s the same group that celebrate every news that put Nigeria in negative light and then make light of positive news when not looking for a negative spin to them.

To this lot, even if Nigeria wins, it must be seen to be losing. If you haven’t noticed this pattern, never mind, it’s because you are one of them.

Nigeria helping to quell the Benin Republic coup, on the request of the Benin government, has not gone down well with the social-media arm of Africa Corps, so they are desperately framing it as a French intervention.

You’d think France had a lot more to lose with (potential) socio-political and economic perturbations in Benin than Nigeria. Lagos, Nigeria’s economic nerve centre, shares a busy border with Benin. Any disruptions to peace and order in Benin will potentially affect Lagos and indeed other border towns, south and north of Nigeria.

It helped that the Benin government requested for our help but anyone with the remotest understanding of multi-order level thinking would immediately see why it was in Nigeria’s interest to accede to the Beninois request. This was an operation deployed under ECOWAS protocols.

The coup has been quelled. Run all your narratives and earn your Rubles but Nigeria—and other alert countries in the region—will not make itself Russia’s vassal state in Africa.

Those who chose that path continue to lose territories to terrorists whilst projecting a narrative of development and prosperity. Nigeria cannot afford such foolish games. There are hundreds of millions of lives at stake. Those who earn their living advancing that agenda are free to do their job, whilst this country can only do what works for it and its people.

PS: If you do not get paid to do so like others but you somehow believe and push the agenda that military coups are the new pathway to pan-Africanism, I will put this in the simplest and most sincere way; you are an active fool.

My fellow Nigerians,

You will recall that I cancelled my trip to the G20 summit in South Africa to enable me coordinate the security efforts at home.

Thanks to the efforts of our security forces over the last few days, all the 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued.

I am equally happy that 51 out of the missing students of the Catholic School in Niger State, have been recovered.

I am closely monitoring the security situation nationwide and receiving continuous updates from the frontline.

Let me be clear: I will not relent. Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.
