Another labour intensive sector to benefit from #IndiaUKCETA is Leather & Footwear. Our global exports at present are USD 5.5 billion ( 2024) and to UK it’s about USD 495 million. Zero duty market access on all leather products ( presently MFN duties 2-8%) and footwear ( leather footwear 4-8% and non leather footwear 16%) is a big win for this traditional sector of India’s exports and it would lead to the doubling of exports to UK at USD 1 billion by 2027 at a CAGR of 26.47%. It would enhance India’s competitiveness in UK market. UK global imports of these products are nearly USD 9 billion. This would also open up the possibilities of technical collaborations, innovation and investments resulting in a big boost to employment generation in various regions of India like UP, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka. @cle_india @fddiofficial @clriindia
