Street Fighter 6 Director Takayuki Nakayama explained how they got Tifa as guest character!

“The initial conversation began roughly three years ago. We have a mutual friend who works at Square Enix, who's also a big fan of Street Fighter 6. We’d been discussing about, what can we do to collaborate somehow? And then eventually those conversations led to, what about a potential guest character from one of their IPs or series?

And around that time the Final Fantasy VII remake series was very active, and looking at the character background, a character like Tifa, who has a heavy martial arts style, we thought that it would be perfect for Street Fighter 6. So it kind of organically led to this happening.”

Naoki Hamaguchi says the main story and ending of FF7 Revelation will not change, but the the side elements outside of that will change drastically based on player choice!

He says rather than having something like multiple endings, they believe that conveying "this is the correct story" is the more right approach for this game.

However, the side elements that are not the main story will change based on player's choices. He says based on those choices the gameplay, storytelling and how characters inner selves are portrayed can branch out quite drastically.

Each character faces a final battle with their own motivations and feelings and people's attachment to each character will differ from player to player through their own game experience.

Naoki Hamaguchi says they will consider FF7 Revelation DLC if there is a significant demand and requests from players for it after release!

He says including spin-off games released so far, they are open to consider ways to address requests for more details and exploring parts that haven't been depicted yet.
