And so I do a home visit. It’s not easy because things haven’t been going too well.

The door opens. 4th floor. I’m welcomed in.

He’s very excited. Two worlds colliding, home and school.

He grabs my hand and tells me he wants me to see his room.

I play the game and we step inside. An empty room with a mattress in the corner.

And then I look closer.

The walls around his pillow are covered.

Every single sticker, every moment of recognition - carefully removed from his school jumper, collected and displayed.

And now I see. Who could ever know the true significance of teacher praise?
