Seeing this tweet triggered me all over again because back in May 2025 after watching Mission Impossible at the mall my S/O said she wanted a burger. Tell me why the vendor charged 180 CEDIS. 180. I have been talking about this financial trauma for over a year now. 🧵👇🏾
Legend has it that British folks are naturally cold and distant, but today at the mall, that entire social construction of reality was shattered. 😭
I was in the makeup aisle trying to get some products for my partner.
Anyway divine justice was swift. She just sent me a snap. On a normal day her palm is small. This new 145 cedi burger she just bought is smaller than her palm. 🤏🏾🍔 Accra is an absolute crime scene when it comes to food ngl.
I told her she should go find it miles away where it actually costs 45 cedis. She hit me back with an existential "What is life anyway? Someone died." 😭💀 Madam what does human mortality have to do with you letting Accra food vendors scam you?!
Before I can even process, she literally leans into the camera to hijack the call and tell my partner: "You're a lucky woman, oi! I wish my 'usband was loike you!" 💀😭
Since I know nothing, I put her on a video call to speak with the experts...
Out of nowhere, this British woman spawns behind me, looks at my screen, and goes full accent:
"Ooh, I wish my 'usband was loike you!"
Banter is banter, but let's keep it grounded in reality. Ghana has great schools, but trying to match them against the academic and research powerhouses of SA's top 3 is an absolute mismatch. Standard tier differences. Mind the gap! 🇿🇦 🤝 🇬🇭
Look, I know we’re all just trolling and having a laugh here, but you really don't want to bring up university comparisons. It's not even close. Just go look at where South Africa's top 3 rank globally versus any university in Ghana
Even if you look strictly at the QS Sub-Saharan Africa rankings, South Africa completely dominates the top spots. University of Ghana is an excellent school and ranks #8 regionally, but it’s looking up at a wall of South African institutions.
