Former Governor Yahaya Bello could have been a role model for Nigerian youths during his tenure, which, looking outside in, he fell short of. If he has committed any offence, he should face the full wrath of the law at the hands of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other law enforcement agencies.

Nevertheless, I respect the strong bond of loyalty and brotherhood between him and his handpicked successor, Ahmed Usman Ododo. El-Rufai, with all his fabled cunningness, could not do it. No Governor in Anambra has ever been loyal to his benefactor. And this is replicated in almost all the states, except the Southwest, Borno and a precious few others.

But when you see loyalty going up and devotion going down, as we are currently witnessing in Kogi, it is redemptive. Love is not only possible between a man and a woman. The purest love is like David and Jonathan. It is fraternal. One friend who is committed to you is better than one million who are only interested in you. Difficult times unveil mythical bonds.
