The guidelines aim to balance the enforcement of trade regulations with the protection of livelihoods, promote constructive engagement among all stakeholders, and ensure that trade operations are conducted in a fair, transparent, and lawful manner for the benefit of the entire community.

This afternoon, together with the Hon. Minister of State for Local Government, Hon. @JustineNameere , I had the pleasure of meeting the outgoing Ambassador of the Kingdom of the @NLinUganda , H.E. Frederieke Quispel, who paid us a farewell courtesy call.

Ambassador Quispel will be greatly missed and fondly remembered as a true friend of Uganda. Throughout her tenure, she played a vital role in promoting investment opportunities in our country and was a strong champion of Uganda’s agricultural transformation, sustainable development, and the strengthening of Uganda–Netherlands relations.

On behalf of the Government of Uganda, I thanked Her Excellency for her dedicated service, unwavering partnership, and valuable contribution to our country’s development. We wish her every success in her future endeavors and look forward to continued cooperation between Uganda and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

Uganda is a democratic state and a nation that upholds freedom of speech. However, that freedom should never be used to undermine our national security, violate our laws, or threaten public order.

It is therefore misleading to make sweeping assumptions about Uganda’s institutions or security partnerships without appreciating the responsibility every sovereign nation has to safeguard its peace, stability, and constitutional order.

General @mkainerugaba, the Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, continues to serve Uganda in advancing national and regional security. Uganda remains a reliable strategic partner and has consistently contributed to peacekeeping, counterterrorism, and regional stability across Africa.

Constructive engagement should be guided by mutual respect for sovereignty, facts, and our shared security interests not by assumptions or politically motivated narratives.

I have just held discussions with Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba @mkainerugaba and we, as leaders of PLU, have agreed that we shall reopen both Daily Monitor and NTV soon. However, we shall first have discussions with the management of both sister companies. I will inform them when we can have this meeting.
