This new creatine study is insane.

People who never trained took 10g of creatine a day and gained more lean tissue (2.43 lbs) than people who were lifting 3x a week with no creatine (0.31 lbs).

Here's the breakdown: (1/18)

[Mao Keji | मुखर्जी @kejimao]

Many years ago, during my time studying South Asian studies at Johns Hopkins University in the US, my professor solved a long-standing mystery for me: Why do Indians constantly emphasize "purity," yet their public sanitation is so poor?

The answer lies in the fact that what many Indians mean by "purity" is actually ritual compliance, not physical cleanliness. Consequently, a cup of water that looks greasy and filthy can be considered supremely "pure" simply because it was drawn from a specific sacred site, by a specific holy person, at a specific auspicious hour.

Once you grasp this distinction between ritual purity and physical cleanliness, it becomes easy to understand the attitude of many Indian scholars toward democracy. Just as they are willing to ignore physical grime and actual hygiene for the sake of ritual purity, they are equally willing to disregard tangible governance performance for the sake of democratic formality.

This explains why, in the classic debate comparing China and India, whenever outsiders point out that "India lags behind China" based on sheer common sense, the most common and lazy copium is: "We are simply unwilling to compromise our principles."

This is clearly a highly satisfying answer for many, for it allows them to claim the moral high ground while dodging the objective gap in actual performance.

However, the harsh reality is that if a cup of water is contaminated, anyone who drinks it will get very sick, no matter how ritually pure it is deemed to be.

By the same token, no matter how self-gratifying the obsession with democracy is, if it fails to deliver tangible performance, it will be exposed as an illusion the moment it faces a true test of hard power.

It’s this line of thinking that caused me to pull the ejection lever from an unreasonably successful career in Silicon Valley to build cabinets in my home town.

I’m back in the grind now with Eight Amps, but it has such a different character because I’m operating on different terms with different goals.

Especially if you’re still young, take this advice as early as possible.

Make the government accountable Mr butter .. instead of rhetoric. You are a journalist for f* sake.

[Omjasvin M D @omjasvinMD]

I agree. Year on year comparison doesn’t convey much. Chennai is a growing city and its floating population increases, and more and more people travel every year. TNSTC must procure more buses as an overall long term goal. At the moment, they just divert from existing fleet and it’s done to the maximum and still might be insufficient.

[Akshay @AkshayR0]

If the statement is true, he was just 3 and 10 when his uncle and father were killed. So where does that level of hatred come from? Can hate like that be groomed? Something doesn’t add up.

Sir, the parents of Aditya Prabhu, a Bengaluru student who died by suicide in 2023 after his own professors told him to kill himself, called your office EVERY SINGLE DAY for SIX MONTHS just to get an appointment to expose the college's misconduct.

You didn't give them those five minutes. Their cries went unheard. I have witnessed years of agony that they've lived through since then.

Because of your apathy, three more students died by suicide at the same "University" that year. The chargesheeted accused still show up to that campus every morning and teach. You did nothing. You are still doing nothing.

This rage was not built in a day. It was built by your silence while children were dying. This has nothing to do with any political party, so please don't make it about politics.

Do the right thing for once and pave the way for someone who is more competent and is actually interested in running the Education Ministry properly.

It's the only thing anyone wants from you anymore 🙏

From "Complete abolition of TASMAC" to "Wow, we got premium beers."

Some sections of TN media seem to have gone from questioning the state's liquor policy to celebrating it.

The shift is hard to ignore - same playbook of "Godi media": less scrutiny, more cheerleading.

[Omjasvin M D @omjasvinMD]

TN govt’s order for equal display of all liquor manufacturers in Tasmac is reflecting in racks already. I’ve not seen these many KF Blue which is united spirit’s premium beers within Kingfisher, being available in #TASMAC. There are also Pint variants ( Rs 80 only) and Jack Daniels whiskey quarter, which was mostly available only in Puducherry, is also displayed in Elite shops. 👇🏽 These aren’t the greatest but Tamil Nadu is getting the basics of alcohol finally.

8 basic rights every citizen has under the Constitution of India and its laws:

1. You must be told why you're being arrested. In a language you understand. Immediately upon arrest. You should also insist on grounds of arrest in writing.

2. You have the right to have a friend, relative, or anyone you name informed of your arrest and where you're being held. So that they can assist you - get you legal help.

3. You're entitled to meet an advocate of your choice during investigation. If you can't afford one, free legal aid is available through the Legal Services Authority at the level of the police station itself (and not just Court).

4. If the offence is Bailable, the police must tell you that you're entitled to be released on bail (from the police station itself) and can arrange surety (which can be a friend/relative).

5. You must be produced before a court/magistrate within 24 hours of your arrest.

6. You can't be forced to speak against yourself. (Article 20 of the Constitution).

7. You have the right to a medical examination, especially if you want to document injuries or disprove an allegation. This exists precisely so that any custodial violence has a paper trail.

8. The arresting officer must be identifiable - visible name tag, and (per the D.K. Basu guidelines now codified) a memo of arrest, witnessed and countersigned, noting the time and date.

Latha Mangeshkar sung predominantly in Hindi. She’s called ‘Nightingale of India’; and was awarded Bharat Ratna, in 2001.

S.Janaki sung loads of songs in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam; but she’s only ‘Nightingale of South India’; was awarded PadmaBhushan, in 2013, which she politely declined.

The pernicious notion that ‘Hindi is India,’ is hurting all of us a great deal. High time we woke up #SJanaki

The AIIMS Delhi exodus: Why top faculty & HODs are leaving India’s most prestigious medical institution.

Cardiac surgeries were cancelled five to six days every month, and patients, including small children, were moved to waiting lists extending up to 15 months, said Dr Hote, who joined AIIMS as a student in 1999.

“About five percent of patients on the waiting list died before their surgery date… including small children. It was not just frustrating. It was causing me guilt,” Dr Hote told ThePrint.

17-year-old Sarthak Sidhant has exposed how CBSE manipulated its own selection process to benefit COEMPT, using CBSE’s own documents.

The details in his blog reveal how CBSE changed the RFP to unduly benefit COEMPT, at the cost of TCS.

He has revealed the hollowness of Dharmendra Pradhan ji’s denials. The PM remains silent, as usual. The question is simple: who are they protecting, and why?

An independent judicial inquiry is now essential to uncover the full extent of this scam.

Sarthak’s work shows that India’s Gen Z is brilliant and fearless. And sooner or later, they will find out the full truth.
