When I was making crappy YBCO in my garage, I would often see no interaction or really weak ones similar to what you're describing unless I used a BIG honkin N52 about the size of a pack of cigarettes that was kind of scary to handle

@andrewmccalip @Piltzintec @ChadBowman0 @VanGennepD So, actual flux pinning then. Interesting! I've guess I've been subconsciously calibrating my expectations for the behavior of LK-99 to what I've observed with YBCO. From that perspective (correct or not) this is very encouraging!

@andrewmccalip @LepsThomas How are you evacuating the tubes of air? And were you able to get them down to 10^-3 torr?

@andrewmccalip Will you be pressing the final ingredients into a puck or some such before the last sintering? In my experience making YBCO, it's hard to get the final reaction to produce a decent volume fraction without reaaaaly mixing and mashing the powders together.
