Nobody talks about the ones who stayed. Or came back.
A few days ago I posted about Dr Swee Lay Thein’s story.
It went viral on Facebook, X, TikTok and LinkedIn.
And as always, the comments came.
Brain drain. She is not really Malaysian anymore. The usual.
Those conversations are real and of course they matter.
But it is also a bit like walking up to someone who is overweight and saying, “you need to lose weight.”
They already know. They don’t really need to be reminded.
There are a thousand reasons why things are the way they are and none of them are simple.
It is easy to look at things from one angle.
What nobody talks about are the ones who decided to stay.
Who looked at everything, the bureaucracy, the politics, the limitations and still said… this is where I want to build something.
I talk to these people all the time. Government servants, GLC professionals, corporate people, NGO workers, entrepreneurs.
They’re passionate. Not making noise about it.
Just showing up every day for this country despite how hard it sometimes feels.
What Malaysia is today was built by those people and also by those who have left.
I know this because I lived and worked in China for ten years. And I chose to come back.
Not because it was the easier path, but because I wanted to contribute something, however small, to this place.
And whenever I travel, people always tell me how much they admire Malaysia.
The food, the culture, the people, the way different communities still exist together.
It is not perfect. But it is ours.
This is not a national day message.
It is just something I have wanted to say for a while and I think many of you would feel the same way.
To everyone who decided to stay and build, quietly or loudly, stay on that path.
And those to who have left, you never know your calling.
Have a great day. Feel free to share. Follow for more.
Membela Sahabat
Namun apabila Islam datang, sifat mereka berubah 100%.

🇲🇾🇺🇸 BREAKING: Malaysia just killed the US trade deal. Null and void. Not suspended. Gone.
Signed five months ago by Trump and Anwar. Cut tariffs from 47% to 19%. The template for reciprocal trade.
Now it's dead. Because the US Supreme Court ruled Trump can't impose tariffs that way.
Malaysia's Trade Minister put it plainly: "It is not on hold. It is no longer there."
The deal was built on shaky legal ground. The court pulled the foundation. Malaysia walked.
This is what happens when you negotiate with an empire that can't keep its word. Courts overturn. Congress blocks. Presidents change.
Malaysia learned. Others should too.
The US signs deals it can't guarantee. Makes promises it can't keep. Then wonders why trust is gone.
Null and void. Those are the only words that matter now.
Geng sana pijak Qur’an, kita marah. Tapi takde sampai bakar, pecah rumah yg pijak Qur’an tu.
Hanya marah di social media, tu pun ada pencacai kata “Melayu kena rilek, demi perpaduan, kita kena tunjuk baik!”.
Geng sana bakar kereta, kita pulak kena tuduh provokasi. HARAM JADAH.
The Indian community in MY has reached the level of extremists and terrorists atp. This is an attempt at killing. Terrorizing victims' cars just bcs you can't handle self criticism within society about not stealing other ppl's land. How shallow can this kuil haram community go?
@Eng_china5 Huawei just dropped 2 new laptops running its own HarmonyOS, marking China’s first big step in challenging Windows and macOS dominance! Big move in tech world! 🚀💻
@DesirableTruth I like how women can use their fathers as the
standard
But the minute a man uses their mother as the standard
They shame the man and label him shit
Let me explain what this means so that you understand better.
.
Sometimes tiny cells in our stomach get very stubborn and turn into bad guys called cancer. They grow way too fast and don't listen to the body's rules.
.
But you see, these smart scientists in Korea didn't want to fight them with big scary bombs and bazookas like old medicines do. Instead they sat the cells on a wooden bench and said "Look here you stubborn cells, why don't you just remember who you really are and be good again?
.
So they made a pretend computer twin of our belly cells. Just like a magic video game version. (something like that sha) so they played around in the game to find the three bossy switches that were making the cells stay stubborn.
.
.
Those three bossy switches have funny names. They are MYB, HDAC2, and FOXA2.
Fantastic 3 lool
.
The scientists turned those three mean switches Off. Poof.
And just like that guess what? The stubborn cancer cells were like "Ohhh… I remember now!
.
Then they calmed down, grew up properly, and turned back into nice, normal belly helper cells. No more bad growing.
They then tried this in Mice, and the poor mice got better. The bad lumps got smaller because the cells stopped being the bullies they were.
It's like telling your barking Dog at home to shusss and calm down. And it actually calms down.
.
.
This isn't ready for humans yet, as it's still developing. But it's going to help out someday. And well, a lot of people are gonna be wayyyy happier.
.
.
.
Kudos to the scientists once again and I'm super happy about this development and the positive impact it's going to have on affected people 💪🏾💪🏾
