@annamalai_k @Jairam_Ramesh I am a common man. Small business own. MSME loans or cash credits (via CGTSME) during covid and post have helped ease working capital issues. I have not heard fellow business owner suffer in my circle. MSME rules are also helping us get paid on time - 45 days.

Neither constitutional law nor convention mandates that the President of India inaugurate a new Parliament building! The President is very much part of Parliament and the Constitution exhaustively prescribes his/ her powers in respect of the institution.Most of these powers are to be exercised on the advice of the Council of Ministers and a few are to be exercised in his/ her independent discretion. The Constitutional role for the President is concerned with weighty matters of State : not symbolic acts outside the Houses. The boycott of the inauguration by a number of Opposition parties is totally misconceived and yet another act of petty personal politics. If better sense does not prevail by Sunday there is no loss to the nation : the only losers will be the boycotting members themselves. They will not be part of a most significant event in the annals of our Parliament’s history and future generations will only mock them for their churlishness. #NewParliamentInauguration

The current Parliament building was inaugurated by Viceroy Lord Irwin on January 18, 1927. Leaders of various Indian political parties such as the Congress and Swaraj Party, including leaders like Motilal Nehru, Rahul Gandhi’s great great grand father, attended the inauguration ceremony. Apart from leaders of various parties, rulers of princely states also attended the event.

The Congress, which then had no compunction genuflecting in front of the British, today, has a problem attending the inauguration, even though the person helming the ceremony is a democratically elected Prime Minister.

What explains Congress’s loyalty towards the British and disdain for the people of India?
