⚠️TYLENOL & AUTISM—RFK Jr and Trump are wrong—the largest & best study in the world in 2.5 MILLION KIDS—found no increased autism risk with acetaminophen (aka paracetamol, Tylenol) use by the mother during pregnancy. A crude unadjusted analysis found only a preliminary 5% risk, but once you adjust for family by matching using sibling controls (who didn’t get autism), the even tiny 5% risk vaporizes to 0% 📉. (Fun fact: I used to do drug safety epidemiology and have been whistleblower against big pharma when their drugs were dangerous—so I know a few things about drug safety data). Thread 🧵.
Remember, the Holocaust didn’t start with gas chambers in Auschwitz.
It started with politicians dividing the people with “us vs them”.
It started with intolerance and hate speech.
It started when people stopped caring, became desensitized, and turned a blind eye.
Remember.
Norway spends about $30,000 per child on early childhood care. Finland spends $23,000. Germany, $18,000.
The U.S. spends $500 per child.
In other words, 1/60th of what Norway spends on its toddlers.
How do we expect to build a better future if we refuse to invest in our kids?
I've been reporting a lot recently on the latest COVID surge's impact on Minnesota hospitals. As we celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, many doctors and nurses will be on the job and I'm reminded of my immense gratitude for them.
Let's be nice!😊Pass it on.
Vaccines are one of the greatest achievements in the history of humankind. Perhaps the greatest. The amount of cumulative suffering and death they have prevented is at a magnitude that exceeds the ability of the mind to fully comprehend.
COVID Update: There are few more important or sensitive topics than kids & their health.
They are being made pawns in a dangerous game. We need to be put a stop to it. 1/

"People should know that if they’re waiting for a notice from C.D.C. experts that the pandemic is over and it’s safe to go back to normal, they will likely be disappointed," writes @aaronecarroll. Here's how to think about decision making now. https://t.co/4siHSfX4Hd
We've received more useful guidance from @CDCgov in the past week than the prior 52 combined. And more coming on schools, what the vaccinated can and can't do, etc.
Nice to see that this national treasure was hibernating and not destroyed. @CDCDirector
