@gs53711303@Gasino11 Nope, they can reduce production, they can't stop it completely, they can't flare indefinitely as it's illegal so they are selling at a negative price as you can see in this table #natgas
Not that anyone will listen but. Producers of electricity have currently got 3x the annual production of gas in long forward contracts.
#natgas
This is the biggest short opportunity in years.
@Gasino11 The producers buy based on retail orders made by brokers who have sold energy contracts to businesses and homes, if the businesses go bust the contracts have no end user. They also buy to hedge any upside in natgas cost to increase future profit margins, hope this helps #natgas
I genuinely wonder why the media hasn't covered the plunge in gas prices, no one is talking about the expiring future contracts that can't be fulfilled or the US producers who are paying companies to take their gas off them. #natgas
Conspiracy in progress and I'm short big-time
@TradingHustler On a technical level you have a shooting star candle forming on the 4 hour with a lower top than the previous candle, if we close -1% or lower we see a bearish continuation on the weekly chart, the big energy producers will sell into any rally to offload their contracts to retail
@TradingHustler Also, I called this on Tiktok a month ago and told many energy consultants about this for the last two years, no one ever listens, I feel like Micheal Burry π€£π€£π€£π€£
@TradingHustler As for stopping rigs, some are drilling for oil which is still profitable, but rig count is dropping, it still doesn't affect the current issue of high production v low demand and unfulfillable contracts. #natgas
@TradingHustler The contracts were sold when gas prices were on the rise and when electric was reaching Β£2 per KWH then businesses went bust and demand dropped off a cliff.
No one expected storage to run out.
#natgas
@TradingHustler They can only flare gas for 45days and then must apply for a 6 month extension, this costs a lot of money. It's cheaper to pay to have it taken.
#natgas
@TradingHustler Because there is no storage so they can't take ownership of the gas, they can't close off the gas well or they could damage it and they can't flare all of it or it would be an environmental disaster and cost them huge amounts in environmental impact payments #natgas
@TradingHustler Producers get charged for environmental impact, it's cheaper to pay people to take it away than to burn huge amounts. There isn't any storage left to store it all.
Future contracts are for 2-3x annual production so can't be filled. They must be closed at a loss at some point.
