We represent Alabama consumers against mortgage companies, banks, debt collectors, credit reporting agencies and more and file bankruptcy for local families.
We have seen this before. Dealing with mortgage companies who lie to you! Forbearances gone bad. We are assisting borrowers to save their homes! https://t.co/3JcmeMeQAc
Already have had success for a few debtors. This is where student loan debt needs to go. Just like ALL OTHER DEBT. Student Loan Forgiveness: Easier To Have Debt Discharged Through Bankruptcy https://t.co/WAkA8QYhgv
@LagniappeMobile We have the same name and practiced opposite each other on a handful of cases before he took the bench. Everytime I walked into his courtroom he would say "What's up cuz!" and we would just chat. I am going to miss him and our 15 year long running joke on the legal community. 😔
Wells Fargo being...Wells Fargo. I have sued them plenty over the years. They just keep doing bad stuff. This is the I think 6th major fine in a decade? Idk how they are still in business. Amazing. I guess its just their business model now!
This is a big deal for us bankruptcy lawyers and student loan borrowers that need a bankruptcy. You could always file a lawsuit in court to try to get student loan debt discharged without much success, but now the requirements are much more favorable!
"Biden Administration to Make It Easier to Dismiss Student Loans in Bankruptcy"-New guidelines set specific requirements for borrowers to prove they are experiencing economic distress #studentdebtbomb#FRESHStart#studentloandebt#studentloans#bankruptcy https://t.co/eaZH2PSCJM
There are some pros and cons to this, but our position has always been to allow #studentloanforgiveness in #bankruptcy court - like EVERY OTHER DEBT an American can get. IDK why that's such a hard concept! Let your own personal financial circumstances dictate it. 🤷
Do you have medical debt? I spoke with @Andrea_WPMI about this change and the benefits to everyone who has ever paid off a past due medical bill. https://t.co/8hCrMXDJH3
Maybe not the best messenger on this news, but certainly there are clues showing us that this is coming. (Foreclosures and bankruptcy filings are picking up). However, the big question is it going to be a small recession or a large one like 2008/9?
We have seen this for years when helping consumers dispute credit issues under the #FCRA. It can damage a persons credit and take months/years to remove. With inaccurate insurance payments and overbilling by hospitals, its time that this type of debt be removed from our files.👍
Inaccurate medical bills are trapping Americans in a 'doom loop' costing them $88 billion last year, top consumer watchdog finds. Some of the $88 billion in medical debt that landed on consumers' credit reports last year weren't even billed accurately. https://t.co/uTg94LKQuk
@anderton88@LawyerBat Overall student loan debt needs to be a dischargeable like other loans. Specially treat it, make rules for it, but allow it to be part of the bankruptcy process like ALL other debt. I am not for the across the board forgiveness, but put it in the BK code and be done with it.
@anderton88@LawyerBat Who is going to pay back a mortgage, a car note, a personal loan, a medical bill? Those among other debts are dischargeable through bankruptcy and people pay them back by the billions. Its the circumstances we have to look at for each debtor, not just the overall type of debt.
Every other debt you get can be discharged, even taxes. Student loans, historically not dischargeable, can be under very strict circumstances like the case here. But the administration is fighting it? Why? Its time for these to be treated like other debts. https://t.co/oilaMKGpag
We have seen this with the decline of mortgage foreclosures and bankruptcy filings in Southern Alabama. However, we are now seeing some uptick, and if the economy hits a wall with inflation and increased consumer pricing, it may be a landslide of issues coming for everyone.
This might lead to some help for student loan borrowers. Appears to be a good decision, especially for loans that clearly are not in any way an "educational benefit" https://t.co/EB8SUo7Rni
This is a good idea. A lot of our important data is unprotected and if these apps are not solid, its just a matter of time until we are all victims of ID theft. And when that happens, trying to get $ back or having it removed is a painful and long process!
.@CFPB looking into #fintech payment apps. .@chopracfpb is right that people expect to be protected from #fraud and payments made in error. We are not right now. Payment apps are too dangerous. #ProtectConsumers
PNC-COMPASS MERGER. I was in a PNC today and a lot of customers were complaining. 🤬😡May be some issues coming out of this with accounts/mortgages. Well be keeping an eye on it. https://t.co/zocvokcAIl
This is a bit of an overreach, right? I have no problem with people paying their fair share, but this opens up so many potential issues. Could banks even do this properly and what will the IRS do with such information?
Washington Proposes IRS Bank Account Reporting
A recent proposal in Washington would require banks to report to the IRS on the inflows & outflows of all accounts worth over $600
Consumers can take action/ tell Congress to object to this here:
