Today, UNDP's Resident Representative @BlertaAliko and the Lebanese Red Cross Secretary General Mr. @GeorgesKettaneh signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation on disaster management and climate resilience in #Lebanon.

Building on years of collaboration, the MoU will support efforts to better prepare communities for emergencies, strengthen early action, and improve coordination in responding to future risks.

The partnership brings together @RedCrossLebanon’s strong presence across communities with UNDP’s work in support of Lebanon’s national disaster risk management and climate adaptation efforts.

وقّعت اليوم الممثلة المقيمة لبرنامج الأمم المتحدة الإنمائي في لبنان، بليرتا أليكو، والأمين العام للصليب الأحمر اللبناني، جورج كتانة، مذكرة تفاهم لتعزيز التعاون في مجال إدارة مخاطر الكوارث والقدرة على التكيف مع تغير المناخ في #لبنان.

واستناداً إلى سنوات من التعاون، ستدعم مذكرة التفاهم الجهود الرامية إلى تعزيز استعداد المجتمعات المحلية لحالات الطوارئ، ودعم العمل المبكر، وتحسين التنسيق في الاستجابة للمخاطر المستقبلية.

Today, Lebanon launched a comprehensive package of national studies and a Geographic Information System (GIS) platform designed to strengthen waste management across the country.

The launch took place under the High Patronage of H.E. Dr. @tamara_elzein, Minister of @environmentleb, and brought together H.E. Ms. Sandra De Waele, @EUAmbLebanon; Mr. Adel Gerges Al-Shabab, Director General of the Lebanese Ministry of Industry, representing H.E. Eng. @JoeIssaElKhoury, Minister of Industry; Ms. @BlertaAliko, UNDP Res. Rep. in #Lebanon; as well as representatives from government institutions, municipalities, the private sector, academia, and development partners.

Funded by @EUinLebanon & implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Environment, the package equips decision-makers with the data and tools needed to improve planning, prioritize investments, and advance more sustainable waste management solutions.
