19 years ago today, we played Game 163.
Two weeks before that, the Rockies were buried in the standings.
We won 13 of our last 14 regular season games to force it. Won it on a play at the plate in extra innings that people still argue about.
Then swept the Phillies in the NLDS. Swept the Diamondbacks in the NLCS. Went to the World Series.
By the time we got there, we'd won 21 of our last 22 games.
Nobody in Colorado would have written that story before the season started. Me included.
But there were fingerprints all over it...ownership, the front office, the players, the coaches. Nobody cared who got the credit.
We just kept not going away.
Man can't write what sport can create.
@Rockies
He would tell you he should have won the championship match but I’m still proud of how well he played in this tournament. His semifinal match was probably the best I’ve seen him play since losing at Sectional to the 9th best player in the state.
@PGA 2 under 70 back when I was 19 and I was 6 under through 16 and finished double double. Also I lost $8 that day. The other 3 players shot 64, 68, and 74. College teammates qualifying round.
@NUCLRGOLF Definitely NOT the PGA. I don’t even consider it a major anymore. Why did they move it to May? That’s like telling the NFL they have to play the Super Bowl in October but you still have some regular season games to play in November and December.
@OfficialTourPro Looks like my daughters NAIA college golf team practice. Actually my son’s high school golf team puts this kind of skill practice in, especially short game detail.
Congratulations to Guilford tennis coach, David Woosley, on his 300th career dual meet victory after defeating the Hononegah Indians 3-2. The deciding tiebreaker match was won by the 3 doubles team of Ben Reedy and Owen Cordell.@GVikeAthletics
It already sucks that they interview coaches during the game but they definitely shouldn’t be interviewing players during the game. It’s hard enough to keep kids focused and now reporters get in their heads. The press is effecting the outcomes of games.
