Shiprock: Giant Petrified Ancient Old World Tree Stump, also known by the official narrative as a national volcanic rock formation.

Actually there are more myths about this:

One version says the people were fleeing danger or enemies, and a giant bird carried them to safety. When it landed in the desert, it turned into the stone formation now called Shiprock. That is why the rock is not just a landmark, but a sacred memory-place.

Another legend says the Navajo once lived on top of the monolith and came down only to plant crops and collect water. Then lightning struck and destroyed the path, leaving people stranded on the summit. This is one reason the peak is treated with deep respect and climbing is culturally offensive to many Navajo people.

Another story says monstrous birds lived on Shiprock and fed on people. The Hero Twins, especially Monster Slayer, killed the adult monsters. Some versions say the young birds were transformed into present-day raptors, such as eagle and owl.

In Navajo tradition, Shiprock is more strongly tied to wings, a giant bird, rescue, sacred geography, monster birds, and the Hero Twins.
