@suitcasemoji@MiaZeklos@Insert66438804 Im just saying you might consider the argument Anderson et Al are making if you read one of the many many works that build on this idea rather than one book obviously written to reinforce your prior assumption by a guy who's feathers are just as ruffled as yours.
@suitcasemoji@MiaZeklos@Insert66438804 Ha touche, tier 1 shitpost. I meant read a book that helps you understand why nations aren't immutable consistent identities, not one that just confirms your priors in an attempt to dunk on me. Try to understand why Imagined Communities was so influential.
@TheDarkGoldMan You are utterly despicable. A man's worth is not derived from their value to the economy, nor should their political rights. What a vulgar and disgusting way to look at the world, and insult to basic human dignity.
@ConstandFiletM@sirenblep@SpaceWalkerReal "There is no such thing as a model or ideal Canadian. What could be more absurd than the concept of an "all Canadian" boy or girl? A society which emphasizes uniformity is one which creates intolerance and hate."

For the Canadian context, two policy briefs from my Populist Publics project help map out the state of play up here and the role of misinformation in debates around trans health:

And in other news. In case you thought it was just about the children.
Vanderbilt even walked away from Pride last summer. Even *that* was too much.

@Frozenwendigo@BertaMemes Lol you do realize that most of Alberta's oil is exported to the US and not Canada right? Our refineries aren't tooled to refine bitumen, on the East Coast we import oil from the middle east. And as for power generation nobody uses your tar sands to power their provinces.
@Its_Al_Berta @argueswithyou @LPC_Hack Why would a company invest money in tar sands oil extraction over much simpler oil extraction processes in other countries, especially when that oil is easier and cheaper to refine? The market for Alberta oil is much smaller than you think, its not so easy to just blame the gov.
@Lordlotuskiller@hylariousbosch Well it might be a bit much for you but Histories of the Trangender Child by Jules Gil-Peterson is a really good history of trans children in the US in the 20th century that will probably answer all your questions and more.
@Lordlotuskiller@hylariousbosch@MikeDrucker And what of the mountains of evidence of trans kids who weren't abused and are still trans? Like man they're here. They were always here, and they'll always be here. You lose. Accept and love people for who they are or continue to be a hateful bigot. That won't change them.

there are countless scholars already participating in the research, cataloguing, and - vitally - historical contextualization of these artifacts for the purposes of education. without assuming the responsibility of this academic legwork, you are just disseminating bile.
If you only recently recognized that it is a genocide the appropriate response is not to insist that it has only recently become a genocide but to spend the rest of your life atoning for your failure of perception and compassion
My very grim theory is they had early sight of a formal famine declaration, including a prediction that the extent of malnutrition is such that many will die, regardless of any possible aid surge.
The pictures will only get worse.
