@OriginalArtical I think it’s about having a senior decision maker at point of referral. Many patients do not need to be admitted to hospital. Having an accessible senior physician for discussion and advice at the busiest periods of the day makes a huge impact
Strikes have given us real data: consultant acute presence in ED until late evening transforms flow.
With an APIC (Acute Physician in Charge):
Faster decisions
Fewer admissions
More same-day discharges
Front-door medicine is the biggest lever we have. #AcuteMedicine#NHS
Thank you so much for the outstanding care I have received on the other side of the fence as a patient @FrimleyHealth Frimley Park from Team ED/Medics, Radiology Dr Hughes to the fantastic @surreyHEART Dr Achan and team CCU! So lucky to be looked after by my fabulous work family
@LGeddesEM@FrimleyParkED Did amazing things for me and my shoulder dislocation … I was away on a tranquil cloud and then all done back in … what? When? Felt nothing! Incredible stuff!
Such an amazing time in Adelaide with my old bestie! Spent the evening looking through pics of Frimley Park circa 2006/7 on the other side of the world!! Thanks Toby and Fam for an awesome weekend in Adelaide!
@DrBenLovell I think I am the acute physician on circuit most highly qualified to give them a joint seminar on the subject… how about a diva off? Haha!
Frimley Park’s ambulatory emergency care team sprang into action when a mum with 3 children needed an urgent transfer. They got baby milk, changed nappies, switched car seats and met her pal to arrange childcare. Worthy #FHFTViP award winners. Nominate: https://t.co/CT7np28joN
Set myself up a nice remote command centre for my first remote medical examiner bank shifts on my leave … excuse the dog toys! The future is certainly EPIC! It worked really well a new era has arrived… @DigitalFHFT@FrimleyHealth
@lornawilko Totally agree Lorna … never felt quite like this before. Today we welcomed our new rotation of doctors with smiles and a lovely bereaved daughter took the time to thank everyone who had cared for her father and gone the extra mile… lovely words help us face the next shift proud
@sweetytweety68@BBCSilentWitnes I’ve watched it since 1996 and as a doctor no one portrayed a forensic pathologist better than Amanda. I’ve been praying for this since 2004! She’s such an amazing actress and this was kept so secret bloody fantastic!
Omg!! I am stunned!!! Prof Sam Ryan back in silent witness… what a shocker!! Hats off to the bbc they kept that quiet! Bloody fantastic!! @BBCSilentWitnes
@Jylland66@FrimleyHealth@FHealthCharity It was lovely to see you there Helga! So very pleased you had such a nice time. We had a blast!! Hope you can come to the next one! Rock on 🤘
Totally gripped by the new episodes of silent witness. Back to gritty drama and some pretty realistic pathology. Hooked already. Refreshing new direction. Can’t wait for next week. @EmiliaFox please tell me you will become Prof Alexander! @BBCSilentWitnes
@Beska@zackferguson Totally agree @beska although we all have our frustrations in secondary care we are all privileged to have a system in which we can practice no risk medicine … I have utmost respect for the millions of risky decisions each day that are made in primary care with little/no tests
Took a long lovely bike ride to Woking today and was horrified by the display of what I can only describe as Covid denialism lead by someone who I am told is Jeremy Corbyn’s brother who I’m glad to say I had previously never encountered. What utter tripe he spouts.
