Ex-jouno & accidental China sharp power expert (GEC@ State) who’s worked in all the wrong places - from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe & everywhere inbetween.
Vukovar surrendered exactly 30 years ago today. Still the killings and war crimes continued. My photo of Croatian National Guard defending the road out of town (Sept. 1991). International and media interest in what was happening to Vukovar at the time was pitiful.
@GBNEWS@PhilCoates9 Unbelievably composed, determined - and inspiring. Accountability is always mentioned and promised - yet never, ever delivered. I sense Emma Webber and others are finally changing that. Good for them. People like her should be in the Lords.
@JohnJCrace As a former fan - even a contributor - to the Guardian in the past, I gotta say, there is a particular cold meanness - even a nastiness - that runs through that paper and most who work for it.
@GuidoFawkes Isn’t it time somebody investigated PPE at Oxford? Used to be the (forgive the pun), the gold standard for leading politicians. Is the Kremlin in charge of it these days? How else to explain why its graduates are killing the UK economy? Gimme a PM who’s studied Beouwolf.
@timothy_stanley@si_rubinstein The problem is neither Starmer nor his advisors are smart enough to get ahead of the story to present a step-change. Not sure if they are conscious of it or not - but the Government is driving division. Kemi is the true leader here - but Farage has the votes…
@Th_Angelopoulos Yes - for all the incessant talk about building ‘resilience’, critical thinking has gone down the plug-hole in the UK over the past 10/20 years. The herd mentality triumphs - whether at the top or bottom of most public services - police included.
@BBCNewsnight The problem is you hear what you want to hear
If there is one thing that, for me, exposes BBC conscious/unconscious bias more than anything, it is this incident. As senior journalists and editors you should really be ashamed. As activists, you can be proud.
@BBCNews He only most likely spoke out loud what his mind was actively thinking. And therein lies the heart of the problem. As a BBC News watcher, you can always sense the ‘cold rage’ BBC journalists have against Farage/Reform. It’s endemic.
@msjlindsay Indeed. People don’t realise Kool-Aid was invented in Scotland, along with Irn Bru - and SNP members and supporters have been drinking it way too long. The People’s Temple indeed.
