Attended Tableau User Group SG a few days ago and some of the users found China to have largest trade volume of apples. I thought, "hey why not use a race bar chart to tell that story".

The 2 requirements that I did not meet were
1) "Selection avg: $XX" was not part of jitterplot sheet
2) When highlight, instead of having chosen dates to darken, non-chosen dates were faded out

Used a different method to achieve the filter and highlight buttons & did not meet 2 requirements, but personally, it was a good try :-)
