It appears that everything the @USTreasury has done over the past few days against Iranian financial enablers is just a glimpse of what is coming.

'Operation Economic Outcast' is different from previous sanctions campaigns because it targets not only Iran's direct financial institutions, but also the indirect shadow banking networks used to evade sanctions, with no more political deference toward some US "partners" that refuse to seriously tackle indirect financial support for the IRGC despite years of warnings.

The US is finally using its leverage with determination. The momentum should not slow down now, and I doubt it will.

A personal reflection: The US 🇺🇸 is putting itself on the wrong side of history in Sudan 🇸🇩. I wonder whether US policymakers fully understand the gravity of their policy and how deeply it runs against American interests.

Equating a genocidal militia with the country's national army is unthinkable and incomprehensible. It risks sending the message that the US is standing against innocent Sudanese citizens, especially at a time when the national army is in the final stages of liberating Sudanese territory from the RSF militia, which committed horrific atrocities and acts of genocide in Al Fasher in full view of the world.

This reflects a deeply shortsighted policy that risks undermining not only Sudan's stability, but also long-term US interests across East Africa. Unless there are questionable private interests influencing this policy, it is difficult to understand the logic behind it.

I don't think there has ever been a time when the US has applied such severe financial, logistical, and strategic pressure on Iran as it is doing now.

It will undoubtedly break Tehran's back unless it swiftly changes course, abandons its nuclear ambitions for good, lets go of its terrorist proxies, and signs a comprehensive agreement that allows it to rejoin the international community as a normal country rather than an ideologically driven revolutionary state.

Nothing made me laugh today quite like this audacious and bizarre statement from Iranian Parliament Deputy Speaker Haji Babaei:

"Gulf states should not build oil pipelines, so that the Strait of Hormuz does not lose its importance."

Iranian lawmakers are truly fascinating. They seem to live in a parallel universe where Gulf states are expected to preserve Iran's geopolitical blackmail leverage.
