My response today on @BBCNews to The @nytimes report that Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman 🇸🇦 urged President Trump 🇺🇸 to prolong the war with Iran 🇮🇷.
Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦 and the US 🇺🇲 continue to deepen their strong strategic partnership, with Minister @aalswaha meeting US Commerce Secretary @howardlutnick to advance cooperation in investment, technology, and AI.
My favorite genre of political comedy: an Iranian analyst predicting the imminent collapse of Gulf monarchies.
The more you write stuff like this, the more you confirm that the Iranian ship is already sinking. I can already see you soon asking the US to take you in, since you were born there. 🤣

Today, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman turned 41.
He is the architect of a remarkable transformation, reviving the Arabian Peninsula's historic role while shaping a new future for Saudi Arabia. His dedication to his nation is unmatched.
Long live Your Royal Highness. 🇸🇦🇸🇦🇸🇦
It appears that everything the @USTreasury has done over the past few days against Iranian financial enablers is just a glimpse of what is coming.
'Operation Economic Outcast' is different from previous sanctions campaigns because it targets not only Iran's direct financial institutions, but also the indirect shadow banking networks used to evade sanctions, with no more political deference toward some US "partners" that refuse to seriously tackle indirect financial support for the IRGC despite years of warnings.
The US is finally using its leverage with determination. The momentum should not slow down now, and I doubt it will.
The @USTreasury 🇺🇸 has never been more determined to confront those who enable Iran's IRGC financial networks.
Success will depend on sustaining this momentum through strict oversight, verification, and enforcement. Any slowdown risks reopening financial lifelines to the IRGC.
A reassuring and professional update from US @CENTCOM on the Strait of Hormuz.
At a time of regional tension, protecting freedom of navigation and international maritime law is essential to both security and global economic stability. Credit to those carrying out the mission.
Lebanon has never been clearer in its domestic strategic position:
"We are waging a war against those who reject the logic of the state."
- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun 🇱🇧.
🔴 Iranian rial, 10 years apart:
2016: $1 = 40,000 rials
2026: $1 = 2,000,000 rials
That's roughly a 98% collapse against the U.S. dollar in just a decade.
Note: In 2016, around 40% of the population was living below the poverty line. Imagine where that figure stands today, and where it could be headed after this week’s sweeping and unprecedented U.S. sanctions on Iran.
The Iranian regime may ultimately be the greatest enemy of itself and its own people.

Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy Dr. @Rayedkrimly received Chargé d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy in the Kingdom, Jennifer Larson, during which they reviewed issues of common interest. 🇸🇦🇺🇸
A personal reflection: The US 🇺🇸 is putting itself on the wrong side of history in Sudan 🇸🇩. I wonder whether US policymakers fully understand the gravity of their policy and how deeply it runs against American interests.
Equating a genocidal militia with the country's national army is unthinkable and incomprehensible. It risks sending the message that the US is standing against innocent Sudanese citizens, especially at a time when the national army is in the final stages of liberating Sudanese territory from the RSF militia, which committed horrific atrocities and acts of genocide in Al Fasher in full view of the world.
This reflects a deeply shortsighted policy that risks undermining not only Sudan's stability, but also long-term US interests across East Africa. Unless there are questionable private interests influencing this policy, it is difficult to understand the logic behind it.
🇸🇦🇺🇳🇸🇩| Saudi Arabia has never been clearer in its strong condemnation of the RSF militia in Sudan.
“Saudi Arabia strongly condemns the criminal attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces militia against humanitarian convoys. The crimes committed by this militia in Sudan cannot be justified under any circumstances.”
- Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdulaziz Alwasil, during a UN Security Council session on Sudan.
I don't think there has ever been a time when the US has applied such severe financial, logistical, and strategic pressure on Iran as it is doing now.
It will undoubtedly break Tehran's back unless it swiftly changes course, abandons its nuclear ambitions for good, lets go of its terrorist proxies, and signs a comprehensive agreement that allows it to rejoin the international community as a normal country rather than an ideologically driven revolutionary state.

Nothing made me laugh today quite like this audacious and bizarre statement from Iranian Parliament Deputy Speaker Haji Babaei:
"Gulf states should not build oil pipelines, so that the Strait of Hormuz does not lose its importance."
Iranian lawmakers are truly fascinating. They seem to live in a parallel universe where Gulf states are expected to preserve Iran's geopolitical blackmail leverage.
