So.... instead of reading that TIME magazine thing, may I suggest you read my analysis of BTS and World Music? 🙃
I mean, the bar is low, but I do hope you find this a bit more interesting and useful. Sorry it took so long! 💜

This is it😭This is exactly the kind of music that I long to hear from "non-Western" groups, it's music that forces new conversations about "tradition" and how it can exist in a modern era without playing to the "western" expectation of "world music".... ahhh 😭💜@BTS_twt
Time to repost this again. Just a reminder that we're truly living through a seismic pop culture shift led by BTS... it's sometimes hard to fully appreciate when you're in it.
This was 8 years ago. First non-english album to top the US charts in 12 years.💜@BTS_twt
@DGlaucomflecken Is fixing healthcare even possible now? Everything just feels futile at this point. I know that's the wrong attitude but not sure how else to feel with the ACA and vaccines on the line...
I can't express how consequential this will be. We're about to officially determine which behaviors are acceptable in modern day society. Like if it's okay to degrade women or lie to spread mis/disinformation. A final plea -- everyone (especially Michiganders) PLEASE vote! 💙💜
@shelldk Oh I don't! Probably should though, this sounds amazing. I guess I have a new rabbit hole to explore :) Thank you so much for the recommendation 💜

@shelldk Thank you!! I've been thinking about it... I'm not sure what the best way would be, but I'm considering writing more blog posts and maybe incorporating some of this research there. But yes, I would love to share more 💜
@shelldk more natural and less constructed and forced (as pop music is), even the rhythm is fluid and less rigid. Silence can do really amazing things when used well -- I always wished more artists used it in their music 💜
@shelldk connection there. But most importantly... I think the reason that opening is so powerful is because it's filled with silence. You hear a few drops of a very resonant guitar sound, followed by silence. It lets you feel and meditate for a second. It also reflects something that's +
