📍Pržno, Montenegro -- A pleasure to meet, in the margins of the Berlin Process Ministerial Meeting, with Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, Johann Wadephul @AussenMinDE, for a substantive exchange on Albania’s European path.
I expressed our deep appreciation for Germany’s clear, consistent and continued support for the EU enlargement process and for Albania’s accession to the European Union.
#Germany’s strong commitment to a credible, merit-based enlargement process is an important contribution to maintaining momentum and advancing the #European perspective of the Western Balkans.
Albania’s ambitious reform agenda and the priorities ahead in the accession negotiations remain the key to our European future. We remain fully committed to delivering on our commitments and advancing on merit, while working closely with #Germany and our European partners towards a stronger, more united, more secure and more resilient Europe. 🇦🇱🇩🇪🇪🇺
#Albania2030 #Together
📍Pržno, Montenegro -- At the #Berlin Process Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, I reaffirmed Albania’s unwavering commitment to a more secure, competitive, and interconnected Western Balkans.
The security of the Western Balkans and the security of Europe are inseparable. In an increasingly complex geopolitical environment, the answer to our shared challenges lies in stronger cooperation, greater unity, and a more resilient Europe. And for us, it has a name: #enlargement. Not as a favour or a reward, but as a merit-based process anchored in meaningful and impactful reforms, while being also a strategic investment for Europe’s security, stability, and long-term competitiveness.
One of the most important lessons of the Berlin Process is that #European integration begins at home, long before accession. It is advanced through practical cooperation, mobility and people-to-people contacts, mutual recognition of diplomas, connectivity, and the Common Regional Market, otherwise, tangible achievements that improve citizens’ lives, deepen regional ties, and bring our societies ever closer to the European Union.
For Albania, the question is no longer whether the Western Balkans belong in the European Union. That question was answered in Thessaloniki twenty-three years ago. The real question today is whether we all together have the courage, determination, and political will to fulfil Europe’s promise and complete the last part of the unification of our continent.
We owe the next generation more than another promise of European perspective. We owe them the certainty of a European future, built on peace, prosperity, democratic values, and a shared destiny. 🇦🇱🇪🇺

📍New York - In the margins of the #UNGA81 High-Level Week, I signed, on behalf of Albania, the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, reaffirming our commitment to stronger international cooperation in addressing a threat that increasingly affects our citizens, businesses, and public institutions.
#Cybercrime knows no borders, and neither can our response. This Convention establishes an important framework for enhanced international cooperation, facilitating the sharing of electronic evidence and strengthening collective efforts to prevent, investigate, and prosecute serious crimes in the digital space.
For #Albania, building security, resilience, and trust in the digital world is an integral part of our broader digital transformation agenda. As technology continues to create new opportunities for growth and innovation, we must ensure that our ability to protect those who rely on it keeps pace with these developments.
Albania remains committed to working closely with its international partners to advance these principles and contribute to a safer, more secure, and more trusted digital environment for all. 🇦🇱
📍 New York -- More than two decades after its creation, the #AdriaticCharter remains a valuable pillar of regional security and Euro-Atlantic cooperation.
At the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the #AdriaticCharter, organized today under the chairmanship of #Croatia, I highlighted that security today extends far beyond conventional threats.
To meet today’s challenges, from #cyber threats and energy security to Foreign Information Manipulation and Interference (FIMI), we must continue strengthening the Charter’s relevance and effectiveness, just as we must deepen and broaden regional cooperation as a whole.
Yet security in the Western Balkans requires more than resilience. It also requires inclusion. Lasting stability can only be achieved when all countries and societies in the region are fully integrated into the frameworks of cooperation, security, and shared responsibility that underpin our common future.
In this respect, #Kosovo’s membership application has been pending for too long. Advancing this issue would reinforce regional cohesion and strengthen our collective capacity to address shared security challenges. 🇦🇱🇪🇺
An open, adaptable, stronger and more inclusive A5 means a safer #WesternBalkans and remains vital to our shared Euro-Atlantic future.

In light of the current geopolitical context, marked by uncertainty and unpredictability, we underlined the importance of enhanced regional cooperation, to which Albania remains fully committed, as well as a clear and credible European perspective for the #WesternBalkans, firmly grounded in merit and delivery, as essential pillars for lasting stability, security, and prosperity.

Very good exchange with the Deputy Managing #Director for Western Europe at the European External Action Service, Emanuele Giaufret @EGiaufretEU.
I reaffirmed #Albania’s strong commitment to EU accession and our determination to maintain steady and tangible progress in the negotiation process. Full alignment with the EU’s Common Foreign and Security Policy remains a key priority. The second EU–Albania #Dialogue on Security and Defence, held on 16 April 2026, in Brussels, further confirmed the very close cooperation between Albania and the European Union, as well as our shared commitment to addressing common challenges, strengthening resilience, and contributing actively to regional and international security.

Pleasure to meet Ambassador Michel Tarran, @OSCEambAL, Head of the #OSCE Presence in Albania (#PiA).
Over the past three decades, the Presence has worked closely with national institutions and a wide range of partners, contributing to democratic governance, the rule of law, #electoralreform, support to law enforcement and the fight against crime, as well as the promotion of human rights, #mediafreedom, youth engagement, and #civilsociety. As Albania’s democratic institutions continue to mature and consolidate, alongside steady progress on our European Union accession path, this development naturally creates space for an evolving partnership, increasingly oriented toward renewed priorities and future prospects.
#Albania remains a steadfast supporter of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in #Europe and the values it embodies: comprehensive security, #dialogue, #democracy, and human dignity. We will continue to play our part with commitment and conviction, fully confident in the OSCE’s unique role in our region and beyond.
🇦🇱🇬🇷 Today I had a first, friendly and forward-looking phone call with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of #Greece, Mr. George Gerapetritis. We reaffirmed our commitment to advancing Albanian–Greek relations in a constructive spirit, grounded in our strategic partnership, #NATO Allied solidarity, and a shared #European perspective.
The exchange offered a valuable opportunity to review the current state of relations and identify practical ways to further strengthen our cooperation. We agreed on the importance of maintaining a consistent and results-oriented political dialogue, based on mutual respect and genuine partnership, to address outstanding bilateral issues in a constructive and pragmatic manner, and advancing projects that foster good neighborly relations, connectivity, people-to-people contatcs, and regional stability.
I underlined the importance of Greece’s continued support for #Albania’s European accession path, a position that Minister Gerapetritis has consistently reaffirmed, and for which we are grateful.
Finally, I extended my anticipated warmest wishes on the occasion of the 205th anniversary of Greece’s #NationalDay.
Twenty-seven years ago, the world chose not to look away.
NATO launched Operation Allied Force to halt the brutal campaign of violence and ethnic cleansing carried out by Slobodan Milošević against #Albanians in #Kosovo.
It was a defining moment, when human dignity prevailed over fear, when the responsibility to protect innocent lives outweighed hesitation, and when collective action affirmed that the the free world would not stand by in the face of mass atrocities.
At that crucial moment in our history, #Albania opened its heart and its doors without a shred of hesitation. Despite its own economic challenges, Albania welcomed refugees and displaced persons into homes, schools, and communities. Everyone, institutions and citizerns everywhere, mobilized alongside international partners to provide shelter, food, and protection, in an extraordinary act of solidarity, one that reflected not only a humanitarian response, but a deep sense of shared history and common identity.
Today, Kosovo is free and independent. It stands as a living testament to resilience, sacrifice, and the unbreakable will of its people. From the scars of war to the strengthening of democratic institutions, Kosovo has made steady progress, consolidating its place as a responsible actor in the region and a contributor to peace and stability in #SoutheastEurope.
Today, Albania stands as a proud member of #NATO, the very Alliance that halted death and destruction and restored hope, dignity, and freedom to Kosovo.
We honor the victims.
We remember the courage of those who stood against oppression.
We recognize the vital role of allies and partners who made a difference when it mattered most.
Kosovo’s journey continues, with confidence and determination, toward integration into the #Euro-Atlantic family, anchored in shared values of democracy, rule of law, and human rights.

We reaffirmed our shared commitment to further deepen Albania–Ukraine relations through close cooperation, advancing our respective #European paths and contributing to peace, stability, and security across #Europe.
