PHILIPPINE EAGLE SPOTTED IN COTABATO
A Philippine eagle was spotted in Matalam, Cotabato during the first semestral wildlife monitoring conducted from April 14 to 16, 2026.
“The critically endangered raptor was observed preening on a branch of a Ulayan tree before soaring along the forest edges, indicating active use of the mountain’s habitat,” DENR Soccsksargen said.

PHILIPPINE DEER REEMERGES IN MARINDUQUE
LOOK: The Philippine deer (Rusa marianna), once presumed locally extinct after going unseen for decades, has been sighted again across several towns in Marinduque.
According to DENR MIMAROPA, recent monitoring recorded multiple sightings within the Marinduque Wildlife Sanctuary, including at least 10 individuals in one area, along with footprints in nearby towns.
