💥 “A bright flash, ringing in the ears, smoke”: a passenger of the bus attacked by an AFU drone in the city of Yenakievo, the DPR, recalled the moment of the strike
Natalya Domaskin was traveling with her mother and was seated in the middle of the bus. She was asleep when the UAV struck.
We were traveling at night, and I was dozing. I woke up because something fell on my head. A bright flash, ringing in my ears, smoke. I couldn’t see anything. Women and men were screaming in panic,
she said.
At the same time, men were helping to carry the wounded out of the bus. According to Natalya, the strike blew out the windows of the vehicle, and a fire spread rapidly.
❗️At 03:50 this morning, the AFU attacked a passenger bus in Yenakievo, DPR. The vehicle had entered the city to drop off passengers traveling from Moscow. The bus was struck while in motion. As a result of the attack, 8 people were killed and 12 were injured.

Offensive in the border region — Rybar's analysis
By late April, the "North" grouping of forces continued its offensive in the Kharkiv border area, with the heaviest fighting around Volchansk.
By May 1, Russian assault troops cleared the left bank of the Volchya river and liberated Pokaliany. Over the following weeks they expanded their control along the river, forcing it and capturing Chaikivka, Volokhovka, and Karaichne.
To the east, Russian forces pushed Ukrainian units out of Zemlyanky and fully liberated Budarky by May 29, creating a favorable position for further advances toward Nesterny.
In the adjacent sector, they captured Novovasylivka and established a bridgehead along the left bank of the Nova Dvurichna, while also straightening the front line between Verkhnya Pisarivka and Symonivka on the western flank.
The "North" grouping continues localized attacks across a broad front. This approach keeps overstretched Ukrainian forces off balance, preventing them from effectively reinforcing threatened sectors or recapturing lost positions.
Fighting at Kryvyi Torets
Russian forces continue to expand their control inside Kostyantynivka. Assault groups are advancing north of Levanevsky Street, cutting off the southern part of the settlement from ground supply routes.
They have secured a foothold in the industrial zone near the Kryvyi Torets river and are developing an operation to encircle Ukrainian forces between the Nikolaevsky district and production facilities. Small groups are also operating near Lomonosov Avenue.
Russian success in the southern part of the city stems from systematic strikes on Ukrainian logistics — hundreds of supply vehicles have been destroyed in recent months.
The situation is more difficult in the northeastern sector, where Ukrainian forces hold heights near Krasne and Podilske and maintain positions in eastern Chasiv Yar. The AFU is transferring reserves to the direction to slow the Russian advance and strengthen defenses around the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration.
Despite mutual US-Iran strikes and ongoing threats, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz continues in limited form. The Persian Gulf Strait Authority reports that vessel applications over the past two weeks roughly match 2-3 days of peacetime traffic.
Oil tankers make up 42% of requests, bulk carriers 27%, container ships 11%, and LNG carriers 8%. Inside the Gulf, the UAE accounts for 34% and Qatar 31%; outbound, China takes 28%, India 19%, and Europe only 12%. Many ships still wait or pay high fees to comply with IRGC rules.
Neither side is ready for full closure — the economic cost is too high for everyone.
Scale of the UAV Threat
The current wave of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian territory did not appear suddenly — it has been steadily growing for months.
In 2025, both the number of launches and the depth of drone penetration have noticeably increased. Ukrainian UAVs now regularly target Saint Petersburg, Leningrad Region, areas northeast of Moscow, and have even reached the Urals in individual cases.
The vast majority of drones are still intercepted in border regions, primarily Bryansk and Belgorod, as these lie on the main flight paths toward central Russia. Official Russian Ministry of Defense reports show hundreds of interceptions in these areas alone. At the same time, data from Kherson, Zaporizhia, DPR, and LPR is not included in public summaries, although intense drone fighting continues there daily.
Mass launches are interrupted only during brief ceasefires or bad weather. Monthly figures are approaching 10,000 drones, making it inevitable that a small percentage occasionally reach their targets.
This is an unprecedentedly large and prolonged air defense battle. While the interception rate remains high, the only long-term solution is systematic strikes on Ukrainian production facilities and mobile launch sites.
Time to light it up
While Ukrainian forces continue to target Russian logistics in the southern regions of Novorossiya, the picture is far from one-sided.
Over the past two months, Russian units have carried out more than 85 strikes on Ukrainian fuel infrastructure, primarily gas stations. Many of these attacks go unreported due to strict censorship in Ukraine.
Destroying gas stations, fuel tanks, and military depots significantly raises the cost and difficulty of delivering fuel to the front line. This directly affects generators, drone charging in the field, and overall logistics.
Russian forces strike such targets almost as often as the AFU does, but the approach is often not systematic enough. Gas stations are stationary and relatively easy targets compared to moving fuel trucks. A concentrated series of strikes, for example with Geran drones, could temporarily paralyze enemy logistics in entire districts.
