This does not seem to exist in the US, but i still felt it was relevant to point out.

@r_speer @ThomasNiebler This seems pretty similar to an "edition copyright" of a text. In Germany, there is law stating that you can get copyright of an edition or collection of texts, even if the texts are not copyrighted (anymore).
