International Christian Leaders Rally in Tokyo for Unification Church Religious Freedom in Japan.
Japan is currently facing intense debate over religious freedom following years of controversy surrounding the Unification Church.
After the 2022 assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, which highlighted the church’s influence and financial practices, authorities have moved toward legal action that could dissolve the organization.
This has raised concerns among supporters who see it as potential government overreach into religious matters.
In Shibuya, Tokyo, pastors and members from the Unification Church held a worship gathering filled with praise, prayer, and messages of resilience.
Notably, over 100 Americans traveled to Japan to stand in solidarity with their Japanese brothers and sisters, joining local believers to emphasize that the church’s spiritual essence cannot be erased by legal measures.
Speakers also highlighted the church’s contributions to education and communities in Africa and other regions.
This event reflects the growing global attention on how Japan balances accountability for religious organizations with fundamental rights to religious freedom.
Understanding these developments is crucial as they touch on broader issues of minority rights, state power, and social harmony in one of Asia’s leading democracies.
Do you believe governments should have strong oversight over religious groups, or does this risk crossing into unjust persecution of faith?
Per ciò che diciamo, vorrebbero tapparci la bocca🤫 Il 28 maggio lo diremo in Parlamento.

African Unification Church Youth Call for Release of Dr. Hak Ja Han and Protest Church Dissolutions in Japan.
International youth members of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (Unification Church) from Africa have released a video message expressing deep concern over the prolonged detention of Dr. Hak Ja Han, the movement’s co-founder, in South Korea.
They emphasize that she is 83 years old, has been held for over 180 days, and has not committed any visible crime or injustice that would justify her imprisonment.
They also highlight the situation in Japan, where nearly 260 churches have been dissolved by the government.
The Unification Church has faced significant legal and social challenges in both countries in recent years.
In Japan, the dissolution cases stem from long-standing controversies and lawsuits, while in South Korea, Dr. Hak Ja Han’s detention has become a focal point for believers worldwide.
These events raise broader questions about the balance between government oversight of religious organizations and the protection of religious freedom.
In an increasingly interconnected world, the legal status of minority religious movements can influence global perceptions of human rights and pluralism.
When young members from distant continents publicly voice their support for their spiritual leaders and institutions, it underscores the transnational nature of faith communities and the importance of fair legal processes.
Do these actions reflect legitimate government oversight, or a dangerous line crossed against religious freedom?
