@tropicalcamatte I recently read Neumann’s essays on law in “Social Democracy and the Rule of Law”. The man is interesting but certainly more than a little starry eyed on the Weimar Republic and Liberal Instituonalism generally. Also his notion of the Nazis as a state with out law is out there

I saw this movie in high school and loved it. But I recently watched the extended cut on a flight and the Baku Congress scene is quite bad. A shockingly racist scene in the middle of an otherwise quite well done movie. Ofc it also has Emma Goldman saying socialism can’t work…

@NaisselineZwawa Thanks! It is certainly cool either way too. I have recently become very interested in the history of the Turkish Communist Left. And it is cool that Algeria also has such a history - I wonder if there is any lingering connection with the Algerian/tunisian situationists

Apparently there was an Algerian left communist affiliate at the time as well. I know little about them but, it is interesting how often critical Marxist currents from the global south are forgotten

Like if DSA and other radical groups in NYC want to escape their Brooklyn yuppie milieu they really need to break out of this. And none of this is really to diss on the hard work those people put in to organize those neighborhoods, it is really cool stuff
