I am excited to participate in the #NOBCCHESCICOM21 competition!
My research focuses on nanoparticle synthesis via microfluidics. Outlined below is the physical technique of Microfluidic Hydrodynamic Focusing (MHF) which is used to prepare homogeneous populations of liposomes.
@Heidi_vdWouw@BlackInChem Liposome formation is dependent on an external energy source (heating or agitation) to fully enclose the bilayer structure into a vesicle. The hot water bath which the device is submerged in is the energy source to ensure vesicle formation.
Academic writing is wild bc you’ll read four articles just to write one sentence.
Anyway, here’s a thread of resources I’ve been using to speed through this review I’m working on:
@NKUPMH @BlackInChem 3. I’m going to keep playing around with the flow conditions to gain control of the liposome sizes produced, from there I’ll start to load them with iron-based paramagnetic contrast agents. Hopefully give rise to some relaxation studies down the line.
@NKUPMH @BlackInChem Thank you! 1. Each DLS plot represents a liposomal fraction collected (the PDI ranges from 0.193-0.239). 2. I knew I wanted the experiment running at a flow rate ratio of 5ul/min and 175ul/min provided proper sheathing so we started there.
Calling UK #Black#students studying #Chemistry or related subjects at university. We @AngliaRuskin are researching #barriers & #enablers for the participation of Black students in chemistry related subjects, a project funded by @RoySocChem. Click here:

@HoodHealer This article sheds some light on nanotechnology and the mechanics of drug delivery in the vaccine. This should clarify any confusion and hopefully help you gain an appreciation for the work being done. Check it out: https://t.co/LucPJ1elLx
