@ChazelMaxime@wX_nvck@yappaowarida@GWHayduke97 In Europe, sunny + snow cover is extremely rare. And the sun will be VERY low in the sky. Like, in Oslo it will be 6 degrees over the horizon in winter, and that's the highest lol.
Stop coping. Colorado has beautiful winter days. Maine has them. Not Europe.
@EdwardQuine@GWHayduke97 Actually do look up data on wikipedia if you want a truthful answer, since the pages for London and NYC source real life data from weather stations.
Annual rainfall is irrelevant: the same amount can fall in 5 mins (shower) or 5 hrs (drizzle).
@EdwardQuine@GWHayduke97 You are wrong. The UK measures precip days as >1 mm. The US measures precip days as >0.01 in. Look it up. So what counts as a precip day in the US would not count in the UK. London has vastly more drizzle days because they ignore all the days with less than 1 mm.
@lady___demon@GWHayduke97 Pure coincidence. Coast regions are, for obvious reasons (clouds need some time to form from the humid air that comes offshore), almost always sunnier than slightly inland, and capitals are almost always former major ports.
@georgalexvw@GWHayduke97 No, Europe is colder latitude for latitude and altitude for altitude than the West US (comparing West to West since Europe is Eurasia's west coast).
Denver is much warmer than identical towns in Spain.
Eugene, Oregon is warmer in winter than Milan and Turin.
@MrPhil_07 @GWHayduke97 Porto has 2468 sunshine hours, and Boston 2633. Portugal is not "sunny". It's much sunnier than the European average, but by American standards it is merely in the league of Seattle and Portland lol.
@Emmet917045@unyielding_h@GWHayduke97@lymanstoneky Dude, stop coping.
Even if US sunshine data was biased, the bias would still be only ~200 hrs (using the Windsor, Ontario - Detroit pair).
Which would still make the US massively more sunny than Europe. Seattle would still have 2000 hrs compare to Europe's average of 1700.
@wX_nvck@yappaowarida@GWHayduke97 Not in Europe! Because the sun is so low (due to extremely high latitude) that it gives no warmth at all until about April/May at the earliest.
@yappaowarida@GWHayduke97 Wrong. Latitude for latitude, altitude for altitude the west coast of US is warmer than Europe.
Compare Denver and a random town in Spain at the exact same latitude+altitude.
Compare the winter temps in Eugene, OR and Milan/Turin.
