Breaking: The Venezuelan people demand free and fair elections (they’re simply to afraid to say it publicly on the streets of Caracas). The United States should support this demand.

Why?

1. To rid themselves (and VE) from the yoke of tyranny and dictatorship of the corrupt regime run by the current cartel boss, Delcy Rodriguez.
2. To allow the people of Venezuela to decide for themselves their own future.

Trump gave them a chance back in January, it is now time for elections to be held so the Venezuelan people can choose new leadership instead of living under the same corrupt regime they’ve been living under for nearly two decades.

It is now believed that Delcy is receiving a lot of “crap” from her base about being a "sellout" to the imperialist United States. This recent “energy deal” was the distraction she needed to keep the Chavismo thugs off her backside.

Whats going on isn't what it seems; she’s doing what the Trump administration is directing her to do. Americans now have to wait and see what results from this deal.

Trust that she is not stupid (she managed to remain in power this long). Delcy is likely buying time because she believes she can stay in office, especially if elections aren't held before Trump's term is up.

In the end, if the energy deal is done correctly, and American political leaders place the people of Venezuela over policy, the people’s lives will change for the better—they deserve better lives and with Venezuela‘a vast natural resources, they can have better lives.

At this point, I trust that our administration will do just that. But I also strongly believe any deal will eventually collapse if Delcy and her Chavismo thugs remain in charge.

So What? Venezuela must hold elections immediately.

Alejandro Betancourt is a white-collar criminal. There is no difference between someone like Nicolás Maduro and him. Today, millions of Venezuelans cannot read this news because they have no electricity, and they have no electricity because money that was supposed to be used for that purpose was instead used to buy a castle in Europe and other luxuries for Betancourt.

Betancourt is also responsible for the mass migration of 9 million Venezuelans, the destruction of the oil industry, the collapse of the Venezuelan economy, and much more. How is a country supposed to function when it spends half the day without electricity? It is impossible, right? That is why millions fled Venezuela. That is why hundreds of thousands crossed the Darién Gap in an attempt to enter the United States illegally.

So how do you reward someone who not only helped destroy Venezuela and its people, but also threatened the national security of the United States?

Of course, Betancourt has billions of dollars obtained through corruption to pay lawyers, lobbyists, media outlets, smear campaigns against those who expose him, and orchestrated campaigns to whitewash his image. Betancourt can do all of that. But do you know what he cannot do? Cover up the truth, erase the past, or make people forget that their misery is directly connected to what he did in complicity with the criminal system known as Chavismo.

Thousands of Venezuelans have died in the country’s hospitals because of power outages during critical moments. Many others have died as a result of the economic devastation this has caused. That cannot be forgotten or erased.

For Venezuela to truly recover, transition to democracy, and become a stable long-term ally of the United States, it needs more than free elections. It also needs to confront impunity and undertake an open and transparent privatization process that excludes actors linked to Chavismo. Otherwise, we risk becoming a new Russia: a country dominated by oligarchs from the old system, with an authoritarian regime that may evolve in form but remains unchanged in essence—and that, more than 30 years later, is still one of the United States’ principal enemies.

We genuinely want Venezuela to become a legitimate ally of the United States in energy, security, and geopolitical matters. We are the ones who have spent decades exposing and calling for the dismantling of the narco-terrorist cartels in the region that have killed hundreds of thousands of Americans through drugs and were led from Venezuela by Maduro, Delcy, Diosdado, and their associates—the very same people who worked with Betancourt and allowed him to amass his wealth. That is precisely why we understand the grave mistake this represents, not only for Venezuela and Venezuelans, but above all for the national security of the United States for decades to come.

History should serve precisely this purpose: to help us recognize our mistakes and avoid repeating them.

The Maduro regime, now led by Delcy Rodríguez, must ensure that Omar and every Venezuelan who chooses to return home can do so safely and without threats, retaliation, or political persecution. Sobre el futuro TSJ que se aspira sustituya al actual e infame 'TSJ del Horror Chavo-Madurista', hay un punto clave que no nos han aclarado ni la representación de la AN 2015 ni ningún otro vocero de la mesa de 'tres patas' que forzadamente ha establecido los EE. UU. para el 'diálogo'. Y es que, después de que los postulados o aspirantes a ingresar al TSJ sean preseleccionados y debidamente 'rankeados' —es decir, clasificados jerárquicamente según la puntuación que arroje el baremo públicamente establecido, los exámenes de sus cualidades profesionales, éticas y morales por parte del Comité de Postulaciones Judiciales, y la revisión cuidadosa de la hoja de vida y currículum por parte del Consejo de Selección creado para estos fines—, ¿cuál será el parlamento u órgano legislativo que tomará la decisión definitiva en la designación de los magistrados?: ¿1. La AN legítima del 2015?, ¿2. Esta, más la representación de la administración tutelada de Delcy Rodríguez en la mesa?... En concreto, ¿qué grado de influencia o determinación tendrá en esa decisión Jorge Rodríguez, quien ha sido instrumento de la deshonra nacional de la justicia, colaborador en la consolidación del actual TSJ que se pretende eliminar y artífice de la pérdida de independencia de la mayoría de los poderes públicos, especialmente el poder electoral?... ¿Qué participación en la escogencia definitiva tendrá este sujeto?; ¿Qué mecanismos se establecerán para que lo que fue el germen de la muerte institucional de la República no sobreviva, ni en una mínima incandescencia, con la participación de este personaje?; ¿El representante de quienes embarraron la justicia venezolana será parte de los que ahora pretenden lavarla?…
